You know it for sure. Your towels are no longer as comfortable and soft as when you bought them. Over time, they become rough and scratchy when you dry yourself. Before they are thrown out, we have a few tips on how to wash the towels so that they become soft again.
Wash towels once a week
Towels collect both bacteria and soap residue, even if you use the towel after you have been in the shower where you are clean. You should therefore wash your towel at least once a week. Here it is important that you wash the towels at 60 degrees so that the bacteria die.
The same goes for towels for the hands. They are used more and by several different and therefore it is a good idea that you wash them every other day. Good hand hygiene is especially important to prevent diseases, and therefore towels for the hands should be washed more often.
Water makes the towels stiff
If you live in an area where there is a lot of lime in the water, you may find that the towel becomes stiff and gets a dull, greyish color. The recipe for descaling and getting your towels soft again is thankfully simple.
Use one deciliter of clear vinegar in the detergent compartment and half a deciliter of baking powder in the rinse aid compartment. Start the washing machine at 60 degrees.

Hang the towels to dry quickly
When washing your towels, it is important that you take the washed towels out of the washing machine and hang them up or put them in the dryer immediately after. If you wait too long, you run the risk of them getting an earthy smell.
