How to Get Rid of QuickBooks Error Message 6147?

Solution 1 - Re-title the Component Files of QuickBooks

1. Navigate to the folder that contains your QuickBooks files.

2. Look for the files with the .ND and .TLG extensions. These are the Network Data and Transaction Log files, respectively. Also, they will hold the same name as the company file; only the extension is different -

i. company_file.qbw.nd

ii. company_file.qbw.tlg

3. Click right on each of these files and choose to Rename.

4. Add .OLD at the end of these file’s name. It should look like -

i. company_file.qbw.nd.OLD

ii. company_file.qbw.tlg.OLD

5. Access QuickBooks and your company file.

Solution 2 - Move the File to a Different Location

1. Go to the folder holding the QuickBooks files.

2. Here, you need to locate the company file with the .QBW extension.

3. Once you find the file, hover over it.

4. Click right and select Copy.

5. Move to your Desktop screen.

6. Right-click here and select Paste.

7. Open QuickBooks while pressing the Ctrl key.

8. This will trigger the No Company Open window.

9. Tap on “Open or Restore an Existing Company.”

10. You must open the file that you saved on your desktop. The error should cease to exist.

Solution 3 - Give a New Name to the Auto Data Recovery (ADR) File

1. Move to the QuickBooks file folder on your computer.

2. Next, find the QuickBooks ADR folder.

3. Double-tap on it to view the stored files.

4. Here, you should see a file with the .ADR extension. Look for the recent file.

5. Click right and choose to Rename. The new name should be .QBW.

6. Open QuickBooks to check if the issue has been resolved.
