Hwang Dae-heon Misses National Team 1000m Quarterfinals at 2nd National Championships

'Team Kill' short tracker Hwang Dae-heon (Gangwon-do) will not be able to compete for the national team next season.

Hwang Dae-heon crashed out of the men's 1000m quarterfinals at the second round of the 2024-2025 short track national team selection trials at Mokdong Ice Rink in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, on Wednesday. He crossed the finish line in fourth place (1:26.217), the bottom of his group, and failed to advance to the semifinals.

As a result, he will not be able to compete in the upcoming season. Hwang, who was ranked ninth overall with 10 ranking points the day before (11), needed to make the final in the 1000m to qualify for the national team, which is awarded up to eighth place.

However, Hwang failed to earn any ranking points due to his early exit.

As a result, Hwang will not be able to compete in the 2024-2025 International Ice Sports Union (ISU) World Cup Series, World Championships and the 2025 Harbin Winter Asian Games.

Hwang raced side-by-side with Park Ji-won (Seoul Metropolitan Government), 토토사이트 who is also embroiled in the "team kill" controversy, in heat two of the 1000 meters. He finished second to Park Ji-won and advanced to the quarterfinals.

In the quarterfinals, Hwang attempted to overtake on the last lap, but was pushed back by Seo Ira (Hwaseong City Hall) and finished last. Hwang claimed foul play, but his protest was not upheld.

Meanwhile, Hwang Dae-heon, the 1500-meter gold medalist at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, was recently accused of intentionally "fouling" his teammate Park Ji-won.

Hwang has been involved in a series of confrontations with Park Ji-won, the men's world No. 1, since last season's World Cup, world championships and national team trials.
