I Write Because

Now and then I have been told, hey I like your writing... when did you start... how did you know you can do this...

Frankly, I never thought I could or would do it, but I started it any way because I had alot to say. I started writing because I was doubtful that I would be able sit a person down to tell all that I feel.

I remember, I started with a story which was like a question for the longest time in my heart, about how love could connect people even if they are not together (read: The Verandah). It was a thought which would not stop running in my mind till I penned it down.

Many a times, writing for me is a problem solving technique. I write down in term of storys or poems to calm my inner tensions, to find an answer.

Back in my childhood days, I would keep on nagging my parents and my sister to tell me stories, it didn't matter if I had heard it earlier I just wanted to hear stories and would like to imagine I am in it. I would enact scenes as I would play alone in quiet afternoons...and I used to make up stories in the process. Probably, that was how I started this creative process of story telling even without a proper audience in my baby days.

Writing for me is a freedom that no one can ever take away from me, it is like a friend who would never leave my side. And as I go on, I am learning along the way how to make this friendship even more beautiful.

With love,

Sanjukta.
