Impeding Thoughts

The sky grows dark, the evening turns blue

The rain itself sings a song for you

For you may drown in your tears, you made the wrong call

It should have been me, but instead, I'm here to catch you when you fall

I feel at times the world is my mood

Bright when I'm feeling light and dark when I'm in brood

So I get on my feet, jump out if bed and flounder down the road

I pluck out a head from a flowering floret, the favorite on of yours

The rain has stopped, but the wind has me locked

I watch as the memory fades away

A memory of us drifting apart for it is inevitable

You too shall leave and alone I shall be, our story will remain a fable

I try to impede the thought, I try to scuffle on, but you win again

I'm passed the point of being apoplectic, now I'm just a wound that is infected

I thought I'd be able to live it through

I was gravely mistaken, I can't function without you

It hurts to be around, knowing, I have no chance

It hurts to be around, when I know I'll end up singing a sad, sad song

You won't ever feel, the way I feel for you

You won't ever be, the person I want you too

But I impede those thoughts and carry on

For once in my life

I'm gonna forget the dawn

                  ****

But I pull my jacket tighter and walk down that road

In hopes for one day

Your conscience would be awoken

For I have decided to take, The Road Not Taken.
