TTO - The revenue of 21 lottery companies in the South reached 70,556 billion VND last year. Nearly 49% of it was paid to the winner, equivalent to VND 34,049 billion.
On January 19 in Tien Giang province, the Southern Lottery Council held a conference to summarize 2017 activities and discuss the plan for 2018.
Mr. Do Quang Vinh - chairman of the council - said that despite fierce competition with Vietlott digital lottery tickets, the annual revenue of 21 traditional lottery companies in southern provinces and cities still increased by 7.2%. compared with 2016, reaching 91,880 billion dong.
The results of the traditional lottery ticket business surprised many people because in the first months of 2017, Vietlott computer lottery tickets continuously announced the winning customers up to tens or even more than 100 billion VND. The consumption of traditional lottery tickets has continuously decreased, while customers flock to buy Vietlott lottery tickets.

However, after that, the consumption of traditional lottery tickets suddenly increased again and recovered strongly. For the whole year, the average consumption rate of traditional lottery tickets of 21 companies reached 77% of the number of issues, an increase of nearly 6% compared to 2016.
Tickets in Tien Giang and Tay Ninh provinces have the highest sales with more than 92%. And Vinh Long and Dong Nai lottery tickets ranked second with 91% consumption. Binh Phuoc Lottery Company is the business with the lowest ticket consumption rate (36%), but also has a profit of 155 billion VND, exceeding the plan. No lottery company has lost money.
The increase in traditional lottery players has also contributed to an increase of more than 8% in budget remittances from the previous year. Accordingly, in 2017, 21 lottery companies have paid the budget 24,158 billion VND and spent on charity and social welfare activities more than 280 billion VND.
According to the plan, in 2018, traditional numbers will have a new type of lottery that the law allows to diversify products to meet the needs of customers.
In addition, companies will improve printing techniques to limit fake tickets. In the immediate future, the logo of the Southern Lottery will be launched and the general website will be completed to connect information and lottery results of member companies.
