PART-6 THE MUTUAL RIVAL

"Rizwan…. Watch out"

*Smash… *Smash…

I stumbled upon the wet ground, there was blood dripping from my face mixing with mud.

Whole stadium was staring at the ground, their minds were dumbfounded by the whole series of events that happened in a fraction of seconds. Few minutes ago, the entire team was celebrating their victory in finals, the very next moment half of the team was lying beaten up on the ground by two of their own players. Both were standing firmly on the ground, with their torn out  jersey, drenched in sweat, blood and mud all over.

Twenty minutes earlier…

Commentator 1: Last five minutes in the game, both the teams UIET and NIT are equal by 1-1. Now both the teams need to score one goal to win this tournament. This has been the most exciting match of the entire tournament, both teams have played really well, I must say.

Commentator 2: Absolutely right, my friend, no doubt both of them are the best but the UIET has been winning the title for the last two years. And once again they made their way into finals, which shows their dynamic form.

Commentator 1: Well you do get the feeling that there is going to be another goal in this match, and it would not be a surprise if NIT were to turn this game around. Still around 4 minutes to play here.

Commentator 1: PENALTY!  NIT has a penalty as Sidharth is brought to the ground by Charanpreet!

Commentator 2: PENALTY!  Charanpreet dives into a challenge with Sidharth, who hits the deck.

Commentator 1: SAVE!  Mahesh sends his free kick straight into the arms of Chirag.

Commentator 2: Well, this has been a fairly busy second half. Not too much happened in the first half, but it has been a brilliant second 45 minutes.

Commentator 2: We are into the first of three additional minutes. And Sanjay Hooda is sent off for bringing Rizwan Ansari to the ground in a last-man challenge. Huge, huge moment in this football match and the tie.

Commentator 1: GOAL!  UIET 1-2 NIT (Rizwan Ansari)

Commentator 2:GOAL!  Rizwan Ansari finds the bottom corner to send the visitors 2-1 ahead.

Commentator 1: FULL TIME: UIET 1-2 NIT.

Commentator 2: So there we have it. The referee brings the second period to a close with NIT, Kurukshetra running out 2-1 winners on the night. Ishaan sent UIET ahead, but Danish levelled the scores before Rizwan scored from the penalty spot. Huge result for the NITs giants.

Entire campus was cheering and applauding. Finally the cup was back to the NIT, Kurukshetra after two long years. Everyone was celebrating their victory, as they were waiting for this moment for a long time. Air was full of joy and ecstasy, and loud cheers for NIT echoed in the field.

When Danish saw Bhanu running towards me, and attacked without any warning. Everyone gasped, they were confused and curious at the same time.

Two blows on my face, and I stumbled upon the ground. That was the last straw, blood rushed to my face making me red.

Everyone was watching it from a distance without having any slightest idea of what was going on. I got up on my feets and blocked the jab, the gloves were off now. And what happened next was history.

Ten minutes later, half of the team was lying beaten up on the ground. As Danish and I were standing firmly on the ground, with our torn out  jersey and drenched in sweat, blood and mud all over.

After beating the shit out of our own team we walked out of the field to our place.

We were banned from the team and got suspended for a week. But I was happy to have my revenge, in order to celebrate our double victory Danish, Akash and I organised a party on the terrace of our hostel block. There was booze, food and Danish's brand new speakers to groove.

Danish and I were roommates, we met on the first day of college when those guys left me beaten up. Danish was the guy who took me to the medical room and only because of him I finally had my revenge. Or you can say we finally had our revenge.

Someone has said it right that an enemy's enemy is a friend. And a friendship that is based on hate for the same person is the purest form, you can be yourself in front of each other without any sense of judgement. The bond Danish and I had made in this last year was unbreakable.
He was a very reserved person, he had his own way of dealing with things. A true believer of Karma, he never rushes into feelings or action. For him Karma always give you opportunity to get back at your enemies, all you have to do is be patient and ready for the moment.Though his well built physique attract girls throughout the campus but still he was conservative in his choice of clothes, hairstyle, and tend to choose comfort above all else.

First, he saved me from Bhanu and his friends that night then he let me into the football team. Danish and Bhanu both used to be good friends, they were from the same batch. But something happens that lead to apart their way from each other, he never really mentioned the reason. But the rumour says that Bhanu's girlfriend had cheated him with Danish, in order to take revenge Bhanu along with his boys smashed his bike and broke his leg.
From then Danish never played for the team, and effect of his absence on the field was completely visible in the performance of the team.
After coming at last position in the football tournament for two years consecutively, there was pressure on the coach to recruit better players in the team. And for the first time, the list was not in the hands of the team's captain, Bhanu.
Taking that as the first phase of revenge, we captured the opportunity and make it to the team.
In the beginning of the tournament, Bhanu was the popular, captain cool, slayer but as the the tournament proceed his popularity's graph declined at a very fast rate. On the other hand, he was also insecure of our increasing fame among the people. He tried hard to keep us out of the field many a times but failed.

In the finale, he ruled me out of the team entirely, so that he could get the credit but the coach was in no mood to take any chance of loosing the title again. That's why in the additional minutes he sent me as substitute in the place of Sanjay.

And when the whole stadium was cheering my name, our so called captain cool lost his cool and gave us the most awaited moments of our lives . We beated the shit out of him and his boys in front of the entire campus.

And that's how Bhanu's chapter was finally over but our friendship had just begun.
