Journalism: A Way of Life

If you can live forever, what do you live for?

Journalism is a passion, not a profession. It is a product of devotion, dedication and hard work. Being a journalist, one must be responsible for everything that he’s doing and must have a strong conviction to fight for the truth.

A journalist is normally characterized by having ink-drained pens, crumpled scrap papers, over-sharpened pencils, and fragmented erasers which symbolize their love and perseverance for their work. People, having no knowledge of how hard these people work, take them for granted and only the walls became bare witnesses of their tiring yet great endeavor.

Like a car that needs fuel to run, a journalist has a motivation and inspiration to write and bring news regardless of the situation. A good journalist is enthusiastic in giving the latest news for the people for them to aware of the state of their nation and for them to be updated of changes in the status quo.

Being a journalist one must be a good reader and writer, a reader, to have a wide knowledge and understanding of things around us, a writer, to record timely events then broadcast it to the people and preserve things that will yet be written in history.

Everything starts with school, hobbies, talents, those are all even more developed here. The school and its personnel are responsible for molding the lives of our youth. It is the second home of students for they spend a lot of their time here. Aside from home and media, the school has the greatest influence on people.

Responsible journalism should start at school and campus journalist must master the ethics of social media. Young journalists are the journalists of tomorrow and they must not be like other journalists of today who are not implying the ethics of journalists. Young journalists must not be permeable to temptation and must stay loyal to their principles and they must be honest even if others will not, others cannot, and others could not.

A life without problems is a fantasy. As a journalist, problems are inevitable but the bottom-line is, the fire that destroys is the same fire that hardens steel. Through the undisputed support of others, journalists are able to cope valiantly and be stronger than before.

Failure is just a temporary setback.

If you have tried a lot of times and failed, the only thing that can make it worse is when you give up. Never give up on giving information and laying down events to people for that is the duty of a journalist. What matters is the fire that’s ablaze by the strong will of expressing the innermost thoughts of oneself.

Once a journalist, always a journalist.

The thirst for scoops and stories will never be quenched and the unending quest for learning will be faced with utmost optimism.

Things done without passion are void and empty, love is the key to existence, the magic formula that is vital in everything that we do so we must give our heart and all in everything that we do. After all, we only have a lifetime to spend. The least we can do is to make the most out of it.

Don’t just write while you live, live while you write until the end of your days.
