Jumping Ship

People wander. No place is ever enough. The feelings can be fleeting or as volatile as the weather in a given place.

You go where the sun shines and leave when the sky darkens. It is this philosophy you live by. You're eternally in search of better. A better city, job, relations and life.

When things are good, you stay put. When things get tough, you pack up and move. Maybe it's your way of taking control of a given situation. You abandon it before it has the chance to wear on you. You control it by destroying it all and then marvelling over your power. You don't see what you're leaving behind when you jump ship. You're onto the next new thing, always bigger.

There's nothing inherently wrong with it. Sometimes it can be eye opening and perspective shifting. But it can also be escapism.

What is it about staying in one place that makes you tremble? Why do you definitely need to move at every opportunity? What would happen if you stayed? Could you survive it?

Just as there's a time to move, there comes a time to stay put. And sometimes when the urge to wander hits, you have to learn to not act on it. To determine if it's truly the time to depart or if you're simply feeling threatened. To see if the changes necessitate an escape or if it's a storm that you could weather. That you could maybe even grow from, once it's all said and done.
