King Of Demons and Angels

The orb glows scarlet as it absorbs the liquid of slaughtered men. It dims as the last drop is taken in. A boy places the item in his back pocket. The person behind him smiles. “Good work.”

With the slight nod of his head, the boy stares dull into the stone dungeon, making sure there were no survivors. If there were any, he would be punished. If there wasn’t, his reward was not being beaten.

His master leaves the room and he follows after him.

“My, my. Haven’t you been through a lot?”

The boy’s master keeps on walking, but he stops and looks to the voice. A cascade of blond curly locks down her back and frame her face. Jade eyes stare into mocha colored eyes. A white flowing gown covers her body. The most unusual thing on her was the white wings that kept her afloat.

The boy eyes widen as waves of pain come from his back.  “You imprudent boy. You are supposed to follow, not slack off.”

He looks to his master and bows deeply. “I apologize.”

His master puts the cord back on his hip and continues to walk. The boy runs to catch up, but looks back at the girl again, only to find her not there.

He wondered where the white angel went.

After locking the boy back into his cell, he puts a food tray under the compartment in the door. “You did well today. Hand back over the stones.”

As usual, the boy places the red orb in a small spot. By closing it, it pops out the other side. His master grins. “Tomorrow, I have more work for you.”

He leaves. The young boy takes the food tray over to his bed and he sits down.

Stale bread and could soup. He remembered seeing it steaming when his master came to get him but since did not finish fast enough, he couldn’t get the luxury of hot food.

He rips the harden break and dips it in the soup, waiting for the break to soak it up and soften. He takes a bite. It was mushy, not very satisfying but it was something in his stomach nonetheless. At the very least, he was given food.

As he eats, a white cat slinks it way through the gap in between the bars. It sits by his leg and rubs its face against it. In the soup bowl, there was small amount left. His stomach growls but he ignores it as he set it down beside the cat. It laps up the remaining liquid.

The boy lies down on his bed and pulls the thin blanket over him. The night was cold; He probably wasn’t going to get any sleep. Something warmed his legs and he looks down. At his feet was the cat snuggling into him. Heat from the cat warm’s him and he drifts off to sleep.

******************

She saw everything from the rafters. She could not help the boy now. The only time she could is that if the boy was her master. Yes, she was an angel. The Creator gave her and many other angels a job, find the prince of a lost empire and revive it. Everything in this world is going toward destruction and this was the Creator’s last effort. They did not want to restore to that.

Problem is, she was having a hard time finding the girl. But the only hint she got about who prince is the ability to use stones. This boy can but other slaves can use the stones also, especially girls, so the hint wasn’t as helpful as when she first received it.

She was only allowed to show her form to a human once and she used it on the boy. If he was the one, then the strict rule was off and she could show her form at all the time.

A glare was on her face, something most never sees on an angel.

“You better be the one kid.”

She knew nobody could hear her, but the cat did. It sliced eyes looked around then closed them.

The girl lands in the room next to him. It was an empty cell.

If he isn’t doing anything, she might as well sleep.
