"India won" - this statement has always been the happiness booster since my 2nd std. To start off with I'm not a cricket fan. I don't know the records India holds or the strong zones of the players. I still Google for a lot of terms when it comes to watching matches. "Watching matches" -which i do very rarely. Thou my best interest hasn't been cricket like the majority of Indian population, I am a crazy patriot; the reason I've watched all International matches right from my childhood till yesterday's match. It gives me goosebumps when the Indian cricket team stand high in the grounds when our anthem plays and the feeling of India winning has been a drug and the force making me going crazy watching the Blue men play.
Initially,I've never liked Dhoni nor the fact that he was made The Captain. For a layman like me and for someone who doesn't know the nooks of cricket, seeing the legend players play their best and the whole crowd cheering for the man who was finishing the game, Dhoni, felt weird. It was not long for long until I saw him lead India to win against Pakistan dismissing Misbah. Then the 2011 world cup. I began to see the man.It didn't change into a love for him until a year back. I just wished to knew more about him and it led me into reading articles about him, watching videos of old matches from when he headed the team. In the course of getting to know him, I got to know cricket. I watched so many clips of matches and learned a lot of terms to make myself understand what was happening on the ground. I changed from mere understanding of him to a deep respect for The Captain.
When I saw him play under pressure; When I saw him captain the team towards winning; When I saw him put emotions far behind concentrating on the game ; When he treated success and failure the same ; When I saw him not giving up on the players even at their worst; When I saw him respond to the media ;When I saw how he handled fans reactions ; When I saw him head the 11 men that represented a nation with so much confidence; When there was no hope of winning but still when he was there on the ground unbeaten, the look on the opposition players faces; I became a fan. Some people inspire you to be like them; Some inspire you to follow their domain; Some get you obsessed; He inspired me to be myself and be proud about it. The way he looked at himself and the way the whole nation trusted him; the logo why worry when he is there? inspired me to get that into me. To be someone trustworthy and looked up to.
I became a fan of Dhoni and he made me a fan of Cricket.
