Its been 3 years since I resigned and started my own IT startup. Partners came and went along with ideas which failed one after the other. It was 5 months ago I met these two guys Ashwin and Shrigovind. After a messy service project we decided to move onto a product, to create a dent in the universe, a mark to leave behind.
Only two of us are developers and Shrigovind is the business guy, connecting us to resources when needed, marketing and making sure the company ran well was his job. For the past three months we worked on this product idea, Taskie, that Shrigovind and Ashwin brought with them. The time has come when to launch Taskie.
Just like any company we listed the milestones to acheive before launch and set a deadline. The date seemed acheivable and we started the final sprint to launch. Tasks stated getting over one by one and that was when we hit our first issue.
Call it our incompetence, ignorance or plain bad luck we took a long time to fix it. But we were happy. The worst was behind us we thought. Things went smooth till D-Day and thats when Taskie stopped sending emails. For taskie to acquire users email is absolutely necessary and we couldn't send any from our app. We worked hard, searched far and wide for a solution and services that would help send mails from our server. We decided to launch Taskie on D-Day 1. And when we found a solution it was half past D-Day 1.
Incredibly tired, disappointed and demotivated we decided to call it a day and launch it the very next day as we had more milestones to conquer before making the app launchable. Being desperate as we were we decided to pull an all nighter to set everything ready for launch on D-Day 2.
On D-Day 2 we completed all the tasks and suddenly our backend started failing unexpectedly and the fire was back burning our butts. After what seemed like neverending fixes after fixes we nailed it, everything was working fine. We even created an awesome tutorial for the app. And then we found out that we had somehow forgotten an important aspect of the project and then started working on it. We finished that task around 2 am D-Day 3.
And here I am tired and sleepy. Just off the phone with my partner all set and ready for launch on D-Day 3. Only God knows what in hell is out their waiting for us to delay the launch to D-Day 4.
