The Legend of Ireden

Ireden, Ireden born to the Men

As the first son of the King of Wren.

Ireden, Ireden will conquer the World

The prophecy from the heavens was so loud.

Ireden, Ireden slayer of lion

Killed a dozen by the time He was nine.

Ireden, Ireden trained with the rest

His passion for might and magic made Him the best.

Ireden, Ireden had a great vision

To conquer the World was His mission.

Ireden, Ireden ascended the throne

After the King’s death was sounded by the horn.

Scrolls were sent past the western passage

Surrender or Suffer was Ireden’s message.

One eighty Kings and two thirty lords

Surrendered their lands, fearing Ireden’s hordes.

The Elves of En resisted His power

As Ireden was informed by His brother.

Armies were moved, to the city of En

And the siege began against the elves by men.

The city was sacked and the people slaughtered

Ireden burned the city with all hatred.

His glory spread far and wide

Soon all the Kings were on His side.

Ireden, Ireden the Conqueror of the World

His deeds were evil, with a heart so cold.

Rebellions started far in the south

As armies were dispatched to close every mouth.

But the days of glory turned to nightmares

As Ireden was attacked unaware.

Ireden, Ireden was the Master of signs

And He took the lives of all Assassins.

Death comes to all, proclaimed a priest

Ireden took his head for the court feast.

I conquered the World, I will conquer Death

Vowed Ireden, at the hearth.

In the Land of the Lost lives a wise man

Said His brother, who was very sane.

Ireden, Ireden with the fear of Death

Rode out to the land, far end of the earth

Death comes to all, repeated the wise

It cannot be stopped at any price.

I was born to conquer, I was born to kill

Now death approaches Me against My will.

The wise gave a thought, his eyes blazed

Ireden thought his answer was lost.

None escapes death, none prevail

Evil King, all your deeds will be of no avail.

Yet you insist, yet you are bold

Go to Northern plains and bear the cold.

The temple of the gods sits at the centre

Nector falls from the heights .

Take the thousand steps to the summit

And beware of the guardian, whom you will meet.

Ireden, Ireden filled with hope

Began His journey with an army to north.

Past the deserts, past the forests

The army marched with no rest.

Some fell, some cursed

Many showing great averse.

Men are falling, pleaded His brother

They could go no farther.

End the lives that oppose Me

For I will not stop, you will see.

About two thousand fell along the way

Only a few reached north, in great dismay.

The sky cleaved and the earth rumbled

A giant monster appeared as the Men trembled.

It devoured His men and His brother

As Ireden’s morale began to wither.

Nothing stops Me, nothing kills Me

For I am your Death from beyond the sea.

Ireden, Ireden The Legendary Warrior

For His might, the creature was no barrier.

He aimed His spear and spun on one foot

As elegant as a young coot.

The spear raced to the monster, piercing its eye

Making Ireden feel very wry.

Go back, his dying brother pleaded

Forget the place where you are headed.

But his aim was Immortality

And abandoning the quest was frailty.

Ireden, Ireden renewed His hope

Began to climb the temple to reach its top.

Days passed as the King ascended

Along with him, his greed transcended.

Ireden, Ireden The bold and the brave

Reached the top which many can only crave.

Who dares to reach this sacred temple?

A voice asked, as the ground trembled.

I am Ireden, the conqueror of the World

Came to drink the nectar from the chalice of gold.

Ha, only evil reaches this place

What sacrifices did you make?

I made no sacrifices, O guardian of this place,

I am the only true Champion you will ever face.

Two thousand perished, your own brother died

For their lives could’ve been saved if you haven’t tried.

Centuries ago, a King arrived to become immortal

Sacrificing and killing, his deeds were brutal.

The nectar gave him immortality and power

And he ruled for a thousand years free of any fear.

But soon the boon turned to bane

As his life became his wane.

He lost all the interests, he lost all his beloved

Until even the death mocked at his life so void.

He left his throne and his land

Deciding to guard this temple, till the time’s end.

I am the unfortunate immortal, hear my plea

O mortal, don’t repeat my mistake and flee.

For immortality will ruin your Legend

Without one, your glory will soon end.

Heed my words and serve your subjects

For only your deeds can make you immortal.

Ireden, Ireden The Brave and the Wise

Understood Immortality and learned its price.

Ireden, Ireden made His way home

Cared for His subjects and waged no war.

Ireden, Ireden the Kind, He was called

His reign of peace was soon written in gold.
