Dear Alex,
Your girlfriend made a mistake. For the record, it is the only record in her memory that she boasted about herself. Sighing while writing this, she realized a few things in her mistake.
(1) Even if you achieve something a bit bigger than others, stay humble.
There are always those people who support you along the way. It only becomes possible with the help of others, not all on your own.
(2) When you achieve something, never change your views. Stay humble.
Never ever change just because of a plaque, a piece of paper, or a piece of wood that signifies your achievement. Don't get drunk on success because along the way, after that success you are feeling, you will still feel empty without the people who cheer you up when you aren't the winner. You may never be the winner every day but those people are the real personification of your success.
(3) Never put down other people whenever you experience winning. Stay humble.
The world is round. The person you might put down today may be the winner tomorrow. Stay kind and still listen to suggestions. It's unkind to boost so much that it will hurt others. It's not a good feeling whenever you hurt other people.
(4) Achievement doesn't always matter. Stay humble.
Remind yourself that every achievement is a gift from the one who made you. Intelligence, beauty, power, and abilities are worthless in front of the fountain of life.
Side note:
Sweetie, there are times your girlfriend forgets this kind of thing so, she hopes that when those rare times happen, please forgive her as always and remind her of these things. She doesn't want to be a boastful person with infinite self-pride that both of you hate the most. She may be mean, forgetful, too busy, superconfident, give you a headache, and confuse you from time to time but she knows you love her regardless of her flaws. You know what, you are one of those people who give her continuous support, courage, inspiration, and strength whenever she experiences self-doubt. You love her even in her meanest mood. You still love her even in her worst state which isn't lovable. She's very grateful for it. No matter what failure or achievement she receives in the future, she knows she has a person she can look back to smile, and cry with. Someone who can understand her and someone she can show the real her without any judgment. Someone who'll love both her best sides and imperfections. She's truly grateful that she found you out of eight billion people.
Yours,
Annie
I am a pushover. I am glad I found someone to lean on no matter how hard I get pushed.
