Let It Rain

Hearing the sound of the rain
Somehow makes me remember
Of the tears that are yet to be shed

Even the sky knows how broken I am
My eyes are the dark clouds
Heavy with pain, grief, and sadness

They say rain symbolizes impermanence
It will wash away everything if you let it
But I have -  for so many times

I have walked under the pouring rain
Until my whole being was soaked
Until my tears were no longer tears
But droplets of the cries of the sky

I have stood still in the middle of a raging storm
Until numbness felt like something
Until the coldness was no longer because of your absence
Until my woes were no longer heard

I have closed my eyes and listened to the rain
Until the gale overpowered the sound of your voice
Until the sudden gust of wind brought me back to reality
Until the turmoil in my heart was nothing but a breeze

Everytime it rains, I let myself become selfish
I let all of the buried memories resurface
I remember all of the forgotten moments
I let the chaos deep within wreak havoc
Because once the rain ends, I'll let go

I keep asking the rain to take away all of the pain
To calm the storm inside my being
and let peace find me

But after every rain, I still remember
I still remember how we met
I still remember the first chapter of our story
I still keep holding on to the pen
Wishing that we can still have our happily ever after

Even when the sky clears up
The sadness doesn't go away
I still see your face when I close my eyes
I still think of you in between thoughts
I still love you

I wonder how many rainstorms will it take
Until I can pick up my umbrella again
And be afraid of getting drenched
Because the rain will take away everything
Even the pain of losing you
