Lone for None

Call it preternatural,

atypical, and unusual

I'd still fancy you even

if you had no integument

Let this eldrich lovingkindness

be heaven sent

 for what it meant

I'd still desire you

even if you never existed,

even if love was never

constructed nor depicted

You, as what you are,

may be foreshortened

But what I feel for you

and who you are

will never be weakened

So believe me when I profess

I'd still adore you even if

you were a skeletal mess,

even if you were the vital force

armoring mortified bones

or the fossilized cinder

from embers of heated stones

I'd still treasure you even if

I never drew breath nor came

out from my mother's womb

...or even heretofore

Let these presentiments

be undisclosed in nature

Without being nurtured nor

tortured by ardor's gore

Even if the world wasn't

made an orb of loch and lawn,

I'd still love and cherish you

more than myself

and the self of my own

Ivory-towered encounters

never eventuated

Just lopsided tales

of how an incorporeal heart

 got unbearably infatuated

We never knew closure

'cos we never had one

But there will always be pain

even if there's none

even if we're already gone

Coz the only something

 between us is unwritten space

And this will stay forever

to smack me in the face
