‘Sorry….!’ I heard her screaming from behind. I tried ignoring her and continued walking.
‘Sid please stop, let me explain what happened’ she said.
‘Why should I?’ I said vigorously.
‘Let me make it clear, I’m not doing this.’
‘It’s fine. You don’t have to do it’ she said.
2 years and 3 months later.
The curtains opened up slowly letting the daylight warm the room. I removed my shoes and made myself comfortable on the couch. I took the phone and called the Air India office, ‘I’d like to cancel my ticket for the Bangalore-Delhi flight this afternoon.’
I felt surprised and startled at the same time. I took a sip of coffee from my mug and closed my eyes. The sweet memories of my college life came back to me like a stream of pure water. It was a phone call that changed everything.
Half an hour earlier…
‘Is this Mr. Sidharth Shekhar? I’m calling from St. Michael’s, Bangalore.’
‘Yes, This is Sidharth speaking’ I said in a surprised voice.
‘Sir, I’m happy to invite you on behalf of the college alumni association to join the reunion of your batch of 2010 on 16th October. The details has been send to you by E-mail, we hope you would join.’
I almost felt numb. I was confused about what I should say to this poor guy.
‘May I know your good name please?’ I asked.
‘My name is Ajith, sir.’ He said.
‘Thank you for informing me Ajith, I will get in contact with you shortly. I need some time to think about this.’
‘Please don’t mention it sir.’ The young man said.
I said good-bye and hung up on the call.
It has almost been a year since I’ve heard about St. Michael’s. I took my MacBook from the bag and checked for new mails. It was almost 10:00 in the morning and I was getting ready to vacate my room.
I read the invitation they had sent me. I’ve to say how beautifully they’ve designed it. There were only two days left for the event. I was deeply confused about what I was supposed to do. A part of me tells that I should go and the other part told me, not to.
I closed my laptop and placed it on the table near me.
