Ashish and Thea were sitting in a restaurant.
“I knew you were going to do something once he told you a woman. I was jus… woho!” – He just stopped in the between of his sentence when she saw a girl who entered the restaurant.
“Who is she? What happened?” – Thea asked.
Before he could say anything, she came to them.
“Hi Ashish! I am surprised to see you here. This world is so big and yet so small! Funny thing!” – the girl said.
“Hi Tanya! How are you? World is small but still I never meet Mia Khalifa randomly. ”
“I am good.” – She said and then looked at Thea.
“New girl! You are over me now, I guess.” – She added.
“Oh! Well this is Thea. Thea, this is Tanya.” – Ashish said being a little nervous.
“Hi Tanya!”
“Hello Thea! That’s an awkward name.”
“It is a Greek word that means Goddess of light!” – Ashish said.
“Really? Even I didn’t know that.” – Thea said in a surprise.
“I have to go now. It was nice seeing you.” – Tanya said and left.
“Who was that?” – Thea asked.
“That was my ex.”
“Wow! You never told me about her.”
“You never asked.”
“Fine.” – She said and started eating her food.
After some time Ashish spoke- “You know what we can add in our proje…”
She cut him in the middle “I can’t believe you never told me about her. I have told you everything.”
“Okay I will tell you. I was in class 10t h. I had a crush on her the whole year. But I always thought that she was way out of my league so I never did anything about it. I used to dream a lot about being with her and all. For me she was the best person in the world.”
“What the fuck! You are telling this story to your girlfriend not your mother. Can’t you just stop dreaming about her?” – Thea said in a little loud voice.
“Sorry! Sorry! It gets better. Just keep listening! I didn’t complain about your my-first-true-love-Sudhanshu story.”
“Fine. Continue.” – She said.
“I was the topper in the school but I used to look like a geek with books and stuffs and had a really bad hairstyle. I was not always this good looking that I am now.”
“Dude! I want to listen to the story not some joke! Your hairstyle still sucks.” – Thea said.
“You know what! Just forget it. I am not going to say anything.”
“Please continue. I was just kidding. You look amazing, you know.”
“And my hairstyle is also awesome?” – Ashish said.
“Please Ashish only one fake compliment at a time.”
“Fine! Well, I was in class 12t h and we happened to go to the same coaching! It was like destiny.”
“You followed her and took admission in her coaching?”
“Yes!” – He said with his heads down.
“Continue!"
“I was the topper of the batch. So, soon it started with exchange of notes. Later we became friends. ”
“You made notes of important stuffs and got yourself popular just for her to ask you for the notes?”
“Hey! You want me to continue or do you want to tell the story yourself?” – Ashish said in a louder voice.
“Sorry Mr. Topper and all!”
“Well that’s true. I made notes to get her attention.” – He said keeping her head down.
“I am sensing that by the end of the story I am going to kill you.”
“Yeah me too.”
“Continue.” – She said in a little louder anger voice.
“When I got to know her. She was totally a different person that I had imagined. She had totally different taste of everything that I assumed. But still just because I had a crush on her for a long time so I thought maybe with time everything will be alright. Soon we got into relationship. But I wasn’t happy. She was the one that I wanted her for so long and once I got her I realized she was not what I wanted. I figured out that I was not in love with her but with an image of her that I had generated in my mind over a year. I thought maybe with time everything will be alright but it didn’t. So we broke up soon.”
“Come on! She broke up!”
“No! I did. One thing I have learned about love. It happens instantly but only once you have known her. This love at first sight thing is a ridiculous thing. You may be attracted to someone on a first sight. But to fall in love with them you have to know them. If you fall in love with someone without actually knowing them, you are not in love with the actual person but an imaginary person that you have created in your mind with a face. And if you know them and still don’t fall in love with them and think that it will happen with time; guess what, it is not going to happen. It happens instantly once you get synced. You just feel it; feel it through your whole body. Like it happened with you!”
She just kept looking at him with eyes blinking.
“Wow! You just know what to say! You are awesome.”
“That is why I didn’t tell you about Tanya because what I have with you, it was nothing compare to what I have with you.”
“Just so you know, what I have with you, I can’t possibly ruin it in forever. You are the kind of person I want a forever with and more.”
They both looked at each other and smiled and she suddenly looked at his hair and said, “Hey look! I think you hair style is awesome. That’s weird! I hated it a moment ago.”
“While I was talking, I cleverly applied some oil from that gravy in the plate to set it. There is a very thin line between hate and love and in this case that thin line was gravy oil.”
“Eww! You are disgusting!”
“You are the one to talk disgusting? Miss spit in edible items of the people you hate!”
“Okay fine!”
The waiter came with the bill. They paid and left. He left her home and started leaving.
“Hey Karn!” – She said calling him by his last name when he was almost out of her sight.
He came back. In the moment when he turned back after hearing her, he came back to her with a smile; she felt the happiness that people search their whole and yet don’t find. She had never felt this way ever.
“I want you to come over tonight. I will cook you a great meal.” – She said.
“Your home! Really?” – He asked in surprise as she had never taken anyone inside her home.
“Yup!”
And that night she got intimate with him on her level; she introduced him to her mother.
