In the name of Allah, the MOST BENEFICENT, the MOST MERCIFUL.
LOVE IS A MAGICAL WORD
THAT CHANGES OUR WORLD.
As the saying of Ibn Qayyim ( May Allah be pleased with him) goes “The heart is like a bird, LOVE as its Head, FEAR and HOPE are its two Wings “
When in deep love with someone we always want them to be pleased with us. We would be way too cautious in our actions to avoid the anger and displeasure of our loved one. At the same time, we start hunting for things which pleases them. Often we’d try our best to do such things. Love always goes hand in hand with fear and hope. This isn’t the real fear of the person itself but the fear of displeasing the one whom we love. This fear would drive a person to such an extent that they start compromising things just to keep up the complaisance between the two. Love has the immense power to transform even a despicable person, infusing positive thoughts, comfort and strength adding a whole new meaning to our life. Anything done out of love would seem easier and makes one feel content.
Human being has a natural inclination to find love but when this attachment is to something as temporary as of this world, it becomes his weakness, not
being sure of how it would turn the next moment. The loss of which would shatter him down. He would fail to analyze the purpose of life. All of this is because he attached himself to something that’s temporary instead of holding onto something that is permanent.
What else is eternal other than ALLAH swt???
When love for a fellow human being could bring about wondrous changes, then just imagine what would befall on us when we start loving our CREATOR - “THE ALL KNOWING”
We all know the love of Allah swt, He is AL WADOOD. Nothing compares His love for us.
Now let’s speak about our love for Him. Love of Allah when embedded deeply in our hearts, our entire affair of life changes. We don't necessarily intend to change, but the change takes place automatically .Our life would revolve around the PLEASURE OF ALLAH SWT. We find things that Allah loves and hates. We start loving what Allah loves and dislike that which Allah hates. Herein doing good and abstaining from evil becomes much easier. This LOVE brings sense to our life. Our ears or eyes, no longer has the longing to hear or see things which displeases Allah swt. Our entire body starts acting upon things which pleases HIM. When we start loving HIM, HE starts loving us even more.
Abu Hurayrah said that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said,
“Allah, the Almighty said, ‘Whoever has mutual animosity with a friend (wali) of Mine, I declare war upon him. My servant does not draw near to Me with anything more beloved to Me than the religious duties that I have imposed upon him; and My servant continues to draw near to Me with supererogatory works so that I would love him. And when I love him, I am his hearing with which he hears, his seeing with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes, and his leg with which he walks. Were he to ask of Me, I would surely give him; and were he to ask Me for refuge, I would surely grant it to him.”
This also brings in the context of fear, of displeasing Allah in any matter of our lives. Even if we have committed it due to forced circumstances or without our knowledge, this love gives us the Hope of Allah’s Mercy & Forgiveness. It makes us yearn for Jannah (paradise) in order to gaze at the beautiful face of Allah swt.
WHAT MORE REWARD IS BETTER THAN SEEING THE FACE OF THE ONE WHOM WE LOVE!!! SUBHANALLAH!!! WHAT JOY CAN BE GREATER THAN THAT!!!
Apart from the changes which we feel within ourselves, this brings about a greater change in our character. We start doing things for people without expecting anything in return. We look forward for the reward from Allah alone. Neither encouragement nor appreciation will be required from people because they have already been provided by Allah through His book. No matter how bad people hurt us, it’s not going to break us as we are in LOVE with the ONE WHO MENDS OUR HEART (AL JABBAR).
Who else can do them better than HIM?
Who else can reward us better than HIM?
Our hearts get freed from the greatest imprisonment which many people live in –“the fear of people” .What matters now to us is the pleasure of the creator. It makes us both soft and strong. Love of Allah together brings in the love of HIS creations. Everything which happens around us would remind us of HIS GREATNESS.
When a believer hears the word Allah or anything that would remind of HIM, his eyes would shed tears in awe of His greatness and out of love, hope and fear of HIM.
Allah tells in surah Al Baqarah verse 165 “the believers are stronger in their love for Allah”
There is a beautiful saying – “THERE CAN BE NO LOVE WITHOUT KNOWING THE BELOVED”. It is only when we start knowing more about Allah we fall more and more in love with HIM. Pondering over HIS signs, HIS names and attributes, reflecting deep upon the Qur'an deepens our relationship with HIM.
LOVE , HOPE AND FEAR OF ALLAH SWT are the essential ingredients in our life which is going to bring a greater change in the thoughts, attitude, behavior and lifestyle of a believer.
I would like to quote an incident on Bilal (May Allah be pleased with him). As all of us know that Bilal was a black slave who was badly treated by the pagans of Makkah for accepting Islam. They put him under the scorching sun with rocks over his chest. When Abu Bakr ( May Allah be pleased with him) passed by him, he advised Bilal to hide his belief. But Bilal’s love for Allah was so immense than the punishment, that he kept on saying AHAD AHAD (one, one).
Once we fall in love with Allah we would find our world-changing in every aspect. A CHANGE which is going to make all the difference and makes us worthy of Allah’s love and the eternal reward.
May Allah swt make us of those who love Him, fear His displeasure and punishment and of those who have hope in His mercy and forgiveness. May Allah make us of those who enjoin good and forbid evil. May Allah bless us all the ultimate reward of Jannah and give us the beautiful opportunity of seeing HIS FACE. Aameen .
Jazakallahu khair
