It's hardly a secret that John Lennon touched the lives of countless people. Hey, you probably wouldn't be reading this right now if you were not interested in the great man, even though it's been over 40 years since he was cruelly taken from us. You'd be hard pushed to find anybody that channels Lennon's spirit more than Javier Parisi, though.
Just like I was lucky enough to befriend John Lennon in Liverpool as a teenager and beyond, I am thrilled to be able to call Javier Parisi my friend today. Javier is an Argentinian impersonator of John Lennon - at least that's what his metaphorical business card says. In reality, though, he is so much more.
Javier Parisi was introduced to John Lennon through The Beatles, watching a performance of A Hard Day's Night on the television back home in Lanus. Javier was immediately hooked by the song, and by Lennon's vocal performance and look. From that day forth, he had a new idol. Javier took guitar lessons - and as he grew up, started to bear a striking resemblance to John Lennon.
In 1999, Javier Parisi formed The Brothers, a band in which he is flanked by equally dedicated Beatles tribute performers. The band have toured all over the world, but naturally, their spiritual second home is Liverpool. I met Javier in the city, and in 2018 we also bumped into Dave Knight on Bold Street.
Dave is a celebrated local street photographer, and he took some great shots of Javier for us. These were adapted into art by Alejandro Luisi, and in turn, printed onto T-shirts. Paying tribute to Javier Parisi is a great and unique way to keep the spirit of John Lennon alive. In addition, you'll be supporting a wonderful human being and an astoundingly talented performer! What's not to love?
