I was travelling from my hometown to my college. The bus was at 10:30 PM but usually it arrives an hour early to the bus stand. So i went there by 9:45 itself and sat in a 3 seater. My friend came at 10:10 and sat next to me. Since only 2 of us were travelling he told me to change to a 2 seater. I told him that if the passengers are less, then we can go freely in a 3 seater and he also said okay.
But crowd came in and someone came and sat next to me.
I politely told him that my friend is coming and asked him to leave. My friend scolded me for doing so. Then came another young guy and asked if the seat was free.I said the same answer and he also went looking for another seat. Now all the seats were filled and only the seat next to me was empty.
The bus started and when it was about to leave a girl boarded the bus. There she stood wearing a red churidar and a green shawl with glimmering eyes and a sparkling smile in her face. She was my crush for 2 years in school.Me being an introvert and an extreme shy person never talked to her.She is even studying in the same college as me and yet i have never spoken to her. She looked everywhere and there was no seat around.
So she came near me and asked if she can sit next to me. I said yes. My heart was pounding faster every second.When she sat next to me, her hand touched mine and that's it. I started sweating and even shivered for a little while.she asked a question to me. That was the first time i was seeing her eye to eye. I could not answer her. I was dumbfounded. She asked again.I came back to my senses and we talked for like 5 minutes. Then she called her father and told her that she was sitting next to me and there was no problem.
We did not speak for the next half an hour. She was reading something in her phone and i did not want to disturb her.I glanced at her often to look at her face from the side. That was perhaps the happiest moment of my life. Then she locked her phone.I did not want to miss the opportunity. So I mustered the courage and spoke to her. We spoke about school, college and some random things for the next half an hour.I still could not believe whether this was a dream or reality. She said she was sleepy and went to sleep.
Then only i realized that my friend was sitting next to me. He was already asleep. So i did not disturb him.I was damn sure that i would not sleep that night. For the next 45 minutes i was watching her sleeping.That innocent, cute, little face sleeping. Her face started to bend towards me and Something which i never expected happened.
She was asleep on my shoulder and she was holding one of my hands. I did not know what to do and was out of breath. Perhaps that was the time I realized true love. My excitement knew no bounds. My heart rate was at an alarming pace. I could feel it and was enjoying each and every second. Should I wake her up or should I let it be. Obviously i did not do anything. I made sure that she was comfortable and looked upon her.
I took my headphones and started playing some of the best romantic songs I had. That was the best 5 hours of my life till date. I did not sleep even for a single second. I woke her up at around 5 am and told her we were about to reach the destination. She realized that she was asleep on my shoulder and apologized for doing so. I said it was no problem and told her how she was holding my hand too. She felt embarrassed and apologized again.
I smiled and said its okay. I dont know what went through her mind but she was silent for the next 10 minutes. Then suddenly she gave her number and asked mine too.Without showing excitement, i gave her my number. We got down from the bus and she said see you soon and went away.
Now she is one of my best friend and i am yet to reveal my love to her. I am afraid that it might ruin the friendship. Hope it happens soon.
