My imaginary girlfriend- Part 35

Info

It wasn’t because I did not love her, but I loved her too damn much to let her go. I knew her wounds were irreplaceable,. She was sunk knee deep in her own miseries to even look up at me and see how I am doing. And the whole incident with Arvi and her mother, I never came to know the truth of it, but only that she was the one responsible for their death. I should have recognized much earlier when Shanti got anxious to leave our home. Meghna was constantly pressurizing to give up Arvi’s legal guardianship against her wishes. And now with the added blood to her hands, she was not her and it was time. Last time she planned to do it all by herself, but I ddint let that happen, we would have had our last breath together, if not for fate intervening in between.

The evening shone through the window like a ghoul’s grin, yet gave the window shutter a halo of golden rays. That was our evening, the sinner and the saint. The evening was our destiny and we had been waiting for it so long. The sharp shadows cast by the street lamps started to illuminate, diluted by the onset of daylight. Then a chorus of birds broke the sky of Darjeeling. I knew we were early, but we were to start of soon or else we would have missed, THE SUNSET.

As we left the mansion, I felt something running deep within me. I kissed her for one last time and started to drive. As I changed the track , she got nervous all of a sudden. “ We are not supposed to head that way Neel.”

“I know, but today we are.”

She got anxious as I started pacing the car, and as we reached the hillside, I didn’t stop…………..

I never knew what happened after that, how the police found me, and what happened to her. Being alive, to find the answers was the worst feeling ever. No one could find her. Whether she was alive , or dead, I never knew. But the fact was, she was gone. Just like that. It was just like I had woke up from a really bad dream, something I would never be able to forget. But then, few nightmares often scares our reality. They come back, and stay with us forever.

I have been battling with the desire of holding on and letting go. Felt the frost- it was deep, piercing through my veins, killing every living moment, and yet it felt soothing.. I am neither happy , nor apologetic for what I did. I never killed her, I freed her instead. And now, after days of endless agony, I am finally going to lay down in the lap of nature, calm and peaceful. The leaves rumbling through the blanket of mist, the Sun is yet to rise. The last of me is yet to burn, the smoke adding up all to the mist. And while I breathe my last, I want to let you know author, for whoever you maybe, she will eventually find you. She will be there, so long the story remains incomplete, for oblivion is not a thing we all like. . Realities will be fading and imaginations would grow strong .
