The lie
I ran, and kept running from problems throughout my life. To act normal was getting impossible with time. I desperately searched for the pills that Dr. Sen had recommended. I kept it on one corner of my cupboard thinking that I'd never need to take it, but i needed it badly then. I lost control on my nerves and my entire body was shaking like a Parkinson patient.
Her: What happened? Look I am worried, tell me. Talk to me Rick, calm down, its okay.
Me: No, its not okay. It was never ever okay, do you get that.
I shouted at her.
Her: You should not take those pills, they'll make you weak.
Me: Just fuck off. Get the hell out of my life. Leave! Leave right now.
Her: I wont let you take that at any cost.
As I tore myself upon her she managed to get hold of the medicine and threw it out of the window.
Me: Why the hell did you do that?
I furiously punched her face while she hugged me tight, until I fell weak and lost to her love. I saw her cry for the first time and felt so miserable.
Her: Hey! Its all right, look we all have problems in life but that doesn't mean this is the only way out.
Me: I cant deal with it anymore, I just cant.
Her: You are choking, wheres the inhaler?
Me: I am fine, it doesn't hurt.
We sat in the dark, the silence of the room was occasionally perturbed by the chuckling sound of a lizard.
Her: Rick.
Me: Hmm.
Her: Just forget everything, go to sleep.
Me: Its not so easy to forget everything, is it?
She didn't ask anything further. The silence was too much for me and I finally blurted out.
Me: Will I always remain a useless fellow, a joke to people. Can you tell me?
Her: Rick, you have to understand , you live among people and that is how they can be dealt with. Isolation is a curse, you cannot live in that.
Me: I am sorry, I hurt you.
Her: Its fine, you never hurt me. Now go off to sleep its 5:00 in the morning.
Me: Am I introvert? Antisocial? Why do people behave with me like that, I didn't cause any harm to anyone.
Her: You are not an introvert, you are a fool. This world is a terrible place Rick, you cannot survive unless you bring in the survival instinct within you. Learn to fight instead of running like a coward.
Me: A coward! Thats true.
She brought her face close to mine , her hands pressed to my cheeks, you are not going to give up like this, rather take in whatever comes in your way. Be the stone you show the world you are, and nothing should ever affect you.
It was not just her words, but some magic instilled in the moment I cannot express. Her eyes did not blink even once while she spoke. It was the first ray of sunlight that made her face even brighter, she was saying something and I kept staring.
Her: Rick, are you listening?
Me: You look beautiful.
Her: What?
Me: I love you.
Sweeping the dark, the sky started filling itself in blue, a radiant vibrant atmosphere cheered the arrival of a new day.
Her: What would you do Rick? I am so tired of your innocence.
Me: Do you want me to change?
Her: Its only for your good.
Me: Promise me, you would never leave me then.
Her: I promise, I would never leave you.
She lied, even after knowing that her tenure with me was brief. I cannot exactly remember the time span for how long she was with me for time passes in moments that we created. We talked, laughed,fought, cuddled and then one day she left me - just like that, no answer, no justification. While we were together, she often told me this, though I didn't have any idea what she meant
"Let me be the illusion
Let me remain a mystery
The less you try to know me
The easier it is for you"
