My Kind of Pretty

I'm not the kind of pretty
Who makes heads turn
I'm not the jaw-dropping kind of girl
Nor will I ever be the girl
Who makes breaths hitch in their throat

I'm the kind of pretty
Who makes you comfortable and warm
I'm the kind of pretty
Who isn't easily noticed

I'm the pretty girl
Who hides behind words
Who drowns herself in cups of coffee
Smiling timid smiles
Laughing weird laughs

I'm the crying-when-alone kind of girl
Who likes to sit by the window when it rains
Who likes to bury her face in books

I'm the kind of pretty
Who can talk nonstop about random things
Who can go weeks without uttering a single word

I'm the girl who either loves too much or too little
Who cries over the simplest things
But smiles when nothing's right

I'm the kind of pretty
Who's different from others
I'm the girl who is obsessed with anything black
From black shoes, paint, and chocolate
But wears pink nail polish with cute bows

I'm the pretty girl
Who's a mess inside her head
Who scribbles her thoughts on paper
Who shows her fears through poems

I'm the weird girl
Who gets easily attached
Who loves even when she's hurt
Who overthinks every single thing
Who drenches her pillow with tears

I'm the kind of girl
Who opens her eyes in the morning
Wishing for the day to end
Who refuses to leave the comforts of her bed
Even if it's two in the afternoon

I'm the kind of pretty
Who trips over nothing
Who makes corny jokes

I'm the girl with the stupid decisions
I'm the girl who falls for the wrong person
I'm the girl who trusts too easily
I'm the girl who's the wrong kind of pretty

And maybe, I'm the kind of pretty
Who will never be enough for you
