I sit there watching everyone move franticaly like ants, the bass gently thudding.
"god I hate this part" I think to myself. Its the rush of fear that comes with knowing what might happen if you get caught that is so unsettling. The parking lot begins to empty as the unsuspecting migrate inside. Grabbing my phone off the dash I throw it in my bag and open my door, pulling my hood up over my head. I sling my backpack over my shoulder and close the door. Keeping my head down I slowly begin my treck across the deceptivly long parking lot.
The front doors seem small next to the large windows of Lewis Marcellus Acadamy. Its small white blockey looking front hall looks out of place against the looming stone structure behind it. Origionaly a castle looking manner owned by Mr. Marcellus himself, he repurposed it as a school by making small changes to its inner structure, keeping the outside just as regal as ever as he requested. saddly he died leaving his beautiful school and sorrounding land to the town that soon grew around it. they were the ones who defaced it with their moddern posh add on. they created "spacious classrooms and the perfect learning envrionment" rendering the origional struscture only a foot note of Mr. Marcellus's contrabutions to society.
The bell screeched a reminder to quicken my pace. Taking a deep breath I open the door to stark white and grey hallways. A line of eye rolling frustrated students wait to have their names taken down for being tardy. they are all self absorbed or checking their phones, yet still my heart pounds faster and my stride gets longer. I hurry past them hoping not to be stopped by some ober achieving teacher whos attention I had caught. i move quickly slipping through the hallway after hallway winding my way through the school.
I walk by closed doors full of students begining their day. my eyes were begining to water as i approached the only closed door that held something for me. calmly glancing over my shoulder i opened the door and slid inside. Weaving through empty desks i moved to the back of the abandonded room to a skinny closet door. Puling a key out of my pocket i unlocked it and moced silently in to the small room being sure to close the door behind me. After stepping over piles of extra books i move a large organizing unit aside to find just the hall I was looking for. Sighing in releaf I walk down the hallway. Music reverberated off the stone walls as i step in to the bright room.
"Jane! There you are I was wondering when you would finaly get here!"
Glancing around the room i see a girl the same height as me jump up from one of the many chairs, her bright pink curls of hair bounceing as she ran over and gave me a big hug.
"Hey Mary, sorry im late, I took the pedestrian's way" I said hugging back. My eyes sting angrily as i stepped back.
"uh can you excuse me please? ive gotta..you know.." i murmer and vagely gesture at my eyes.
Scrunching up her face she replied, "oh! of course just gie me a second, you know i hate watching someone do that"
I walk over to a large mirror against the wall and take a small plastic box out of my bag. setting it down open on the vanity table I look at my pale skin. Leaning in I put my finger on the outside corner of my eye, applying pressure gently. Finaly the slippery glass falls in my hand. Looking down at it I shutter as the glass eye slides around, its green iris perfectly colored and gleaming against its creamy white background.
I take the other out putting them in their case and look up at my reflection. my unearthly black eyes look back at me.
