Oh My Marriage!

"Vaani.. We are starting your groom search from tomorrow after doing pooja to your kundali, no ifs, no buts I want to hear from you!"

"Amma! I am just 25 now, don't I have to see life more?"

"I had you and your brother at 25 Vaani, and who says life ends after marriage? Your boy will take care of you"

This went on for about 20 min which I will skip. Summarizing the conversation, it was Mother 1, Vaani 0.

The next morning Appa had fished some photos from some matrimony site, few photos and kundalis were given by appa's besties who wanted his daughter to marry their favorite boy.

I was very much sure that I would be having 1 year more of bachelorette life as Indian Brahmin arrange marriage has several levels of procedures even before Boy sees his prospective bride's face live!

There is kundali, nakshatra, gotra which should not be same. There are doshas (problems in one's kundali) which needs to be eliminated before marriage. Keeping all these in mind I had kept my calm. 

26 over, no groom found. Some rejected me, I rejected some of the matches. 

27 Over, lesser and lesser matches, rejection rate going high.

28 - Appa Amma who were dead set against love marriages earlier, asked me.. "Did someone loved you back in your college days or you loved somebody? we can go and speak with the parents!" But I had no love life.. 

29 - No matches to be found!

30 - My parents' hopes were low.. almost an inch from the ground if measured. I, on the other hand, was disappointed too. I rejected some of the matches for some valid reason but see boys audacity to reject me! Concept of marriage was starting to suck!

31 - That year I met my soul mate. I saw him, he saw me and smiled. Smile was so sincere. I, who had doubts on knowing a person in first meeting, seeing him believed that love at first sight happens! Worth waiting, worth getting rejected for 5 years!

Everything happens happens for a reason!
