A Place Inside Me

There's a hauntingly beautiful place within me where I wander off to at times. It's dark, it's cold and it's deserted but it's blinding beauty drugs me to the core. Intoxicated, I find my self to be levitated, nearing the heaven but in a blink of the eye, I hit rock-bottom feeling heavy and damp. As I lie there with my eyes wide open, I see fragments of my soul floating aimlessly in front of my eyes. The pain? Well, I don't feel pain any more. My pale arms, my stone-cold heart, my thoughtless mind and my tired eyes have all gone numb. They are my guardian angels who have shut out feelings forever.

As I walk around with no destination to reach I stumble upon the place where day and night meet. They fall into each other's arm and disappear almost suddenly. All they leave behind is a ray of light. It isn't as calm as I am. It keeps running around, beaming with boundless happiness as I stare at it in awe. With each passing moment the ray of light keeps going farther away from me, ultimately leaving me in utter darkness. I've decided that one day I'll follow it and see where it takes me to, but now I'm just too tired. I think I'll stay here for some more time because I need to understand it better. All I've learnt now, is that this hauntingly beautiful place within me is called depression.
