Maybe we shouldn't look for things when we want them because we seldom find what we seek. We go round and round the familiar places; looking over and under things. We rack our brains, trying to jog back our memories and remember the exact moment we last saw it. Instead, we could take a deep breath and try to relax and forget about it for a while. And then start afresh. Not in the places we have already looked but where we have never dared to venture. For what is life if not a quest for the unknown.
Most of us seek happiness. Exuberance. Ecstasy. Exhilaration. And we waste away our precious lives in the pursuit of happiness, overlooking the small thing that can make our days brighter and our lives a bit more worth living. The concept of happiness differs from person to person. Some find it in a new job; some in a new born baby. Some find it in love and some on a summer’s night reminiscing about the days gone by. But it’s not the pursuit that keeps us going. It’s the hope that one day we’ll be unconditionally happy.
Our days might be filled with dismay and dark clouds might hover over our heads but one day those clouds have to give way to rain which will quench our thirst. And if the wait seems long, try making the time stand still because then it will go faster.
And don’t forget to look in those small nooks and corners you missed earlier because we might find it in a hopeless place.
