Room no. 716

Arrived 3 hrs late at the Brimunton airport due to harsh weather conditions…

I was already very tired and all I wanted was to go lie down and take some rest in the hotel because I had a lot of preparations to do for the business meet that I've come to attend.

Brimunton is a very developed but crowded city, I wanted to stay in a hotel which is pretty much away from the core town, so I decided to look for a hotel in the outskirts of Brimunton.
One of my colleagues had mentioned a few hotels which was neither too far nor too close to the core town and he also assured that I'll be able to work there peacefully. So I decided to go to one of those hotels.

Thats when I came across Hotel Ramada which was pretty far away from the main city at around 9 pm. The hotel looked pretty much deserted with dark dim-lighted corridors, very few hotel staff members, hardly any guests around in the dining hall at this point of time and poorly maintained interiors and especially the lobby, but I had no other choice I was way too tired and lazy to find a better one. I asked for a peaceful room for one person. The receptionist gave me the keys and said, “Room no. 715, Sir, on the seventh floor. You can use the elevator. We’ll deliver your luggage to your room within no time. ”

“Seventh floor??” I asked.

I was quite shocked.

“Are all the other rooms occupied in the first few floors?”I asked.

“I’m sorry Sir, almost all the rooms in the first few floors are under maintenance and renovation”

"Ohh... thats alright, thankyou ".

When I got to the 7th floor I realized not even a single room was occupied on that floor, I was very glad and I said to myself, “Ah, now I’ll be able to work peacefully”.

The room was well lighted, very warm and cozy with windows facing the lake, which seemed pretty scary in the moonlight.

I got my luggage on time so I quickly changed into my nightgown and went off to sleep.

After some time I woke up because I could heard someone playing the piano, It seemed like it was coming from the room right beside mine. I chose the ignore it and went off to deep sleep again.

Next day - a very pleasant morning, I opened the windows and had the first proper glance of the lake, now the deep blue waters with the dense forest on the other side seemed like paradise, rather than what I had felt last night.

The scary sight of the lake in the moonlit sky reminded me of the melody that woke me up yesterday in the midnight, so after having my breakfast I went out in the corridor to check if someone has occupied any of the rooms of the 7th floor. Everything looked the same as yesterday - all the rooms were locked.

I didn't care to inquire about that weird incident, I thought that it was just a scary feeling that I had, maybe because I was very tired. So I started off to the town to buy some stationary stuff for my business meet.

I got back to the hotel in the afternoon after all the tiring shopping. I went back straight into my room and started with few of my assignments and was pretty determined that I'll complete at least half of them by the midnight, I was actually pretty relaxed about the meeting because I had 4 more days to prepare for it.

At around 11 pm I finished with half of all the work, had a nice dinner and went to bed to lie down and read a novel. But then suddenly someone started to play the piano, it was the same melody which was been played yesterday at night.

I went out in the corridor to check what was happening, it was the room no. 716. The piano was being played in room no. 716, I couldn't resist myself from sneaking into the room, I peeped into the room through the keyhole.

I could distinctly see a girl in vivid white robe playing the piano.

A lot of things were going through my mind, I was a bit scared, curious and also confused as to what to do next.

I decided to wait for another day, so I want back to my room and soon fell asleep.

Next night, at around 11:30pm I heard the same melody being played from that room over and over again, gathering all my courage went out in the corridor and peeped in through the keyhole and saw the same girl, in the same white dress playing the piano.

Now I was a bit worried, my heart started pumping really hard and now I regretted my decision of staying in the deserted 7th floor, but still I wasn't sure who she was.

Next night, It was already 11:30 but I didn't hear any piano being played I patiently waited for another hour but then i just couldn't control myself so I went out and peeped through the keyhole, but this time I didn't see any girl or a piano, I could see something blue-ish, yes it was all blue, all I could see was just blue so rather than staring at whatever it was through the hole, I peacefully went back to sleep.

Next day after I woke up,  I went to the receptionist.

"Hey, is there anything wrong in the room no. 716??" I asked her.

"ROOM NO. 716??"she looked very pale and scared.

"Oh god, I forgot about that, but anyways sir, please don't move out of your room in the midnight hours, I'll not hide anything from you.....room no. 716 was where the hotel owner's daughter used to live 5 years ago.... due to some mental depression she committed suicide in that room and yesterday was that day when she had committed suicide."

It was really scary but being curious at the same time and wanting to know more about that little girl, I asked

"Do you know anything more about her??"

"I don't know anything much about her...her name was Mia, she was a wonderful pianist and a singer...umm........I guess thats all I know".

"oh..well ..alright............. thankyou"

I was about to leave when she suddenly said..

"And yaaa...and I still remember ...that she had beautiful blue colored eyes".

THE END
