Hello friends, I am really thankful to you for reading my work and appreciating it. Taking it to the next level, and by getting inspired by messages from my followers, I have decided to do something new which no one has tried on launchora. When it comes to reading poems we often build up our own meanings for every line, which ofcourse is beautiful, but sometimes the poet's views gets faded away in the process.
So I have decided to share my thoughts behind every line so that may be it brings a revolution in the way poems are read on launchora.
( The length may look big because I will be including all the lines from poem. So please ignore the length and do read)
Days were there when I was not born
Retentions were an art of mind
collecting substance harsh or kind
But for how long my dear
One day you will have nothing to find
The poem is about a "Camera" who is in retrospect thinking and expressing about how their generations came into being and evolved over time. Here he is talking about the days when cameras were not invented and saying that collection of memories could be done only by our brain which he calls an art. However he also tells that no matter how good you are with your memory, one day some or the other memory will no longer be there i.e. you will surely forget some memory of yours.
Days were there when I was not born
And the memories were captured only by heart
Some affluent living apart
Also took the ocassional path of art
The camera is still discussing how humam lives were, before their existence. He explains that all that humans wanted to remember can be done only be keeping it in their heart. Then there were kings and rich people who started getting things painted in order to retain them hence took the help of art for collecting memories but that too was ocassional.
Days were there when I was not born
But then came the first of us
And humans developed a desire contagious
Desire to retain
Retain, the ocassions of life for them precious
The camera is repeating his words in the first line comparing every situation in their history with the times when the were not born, it is because he unknowingly desires that time to come back. He tells then when the first camera was invented humans got highly enthusiastic about the idea of capturing things and this desire spread like a disease, all over the world numerous attempts were being made to develop better and better cameras so that they can capture the precious occassions of their life.
Days were there when I was not born
The domineering creature but now
Found out a way as to how
Arrest in black and white, their episodes running right now.
Compairing the world when cameras were inexistent now he is describing the time when humans have invented the black amd whute camera. He compares their evryday life to episodes and is saying that now the humans have found out a way to arrest their episodes in black amd white i.e. capture their everyday lives in black and white pictures.
Days were there when I was not born
But today, whenever their faces bloom
A piece of paper they get from that room
So that,
No dust of happiness can be wiped by time's broom
Life of humans has now changed a little, now they have started to accumulate the happy moments by getting pictures clicked in rooms specified for this purpose. Happiness has been compared to dust and time to a broom because of the very fact time has the power to wipe away our memories and people have now found a counter for that.
Do read these explanations, it will allow you to understand my true feelings behind every word of the poem, and please wait for the second part. I wish you help me initiate this change by recommending and commenting .
