Shadow

Author's note: I am definitely not a good writer... just trying to shape a dream, that I always have in mind... possibly many should have. It will have mistakes... and... well... overlook them please :-P

We all are shadows,
We all have shadows,
Shadows eternal...

He was lying on the ground, breathing heavily, watching the world getting mixed in the fluid darkness. His life was tossing with every breathe he took. The time must have come for his return. Things were not right and he knew that. His brain had stopped working and with the blood around, he knew he was dying.

It could have been his last second but for some reasons his mind was determined to live, to survive. It was awfully rebelling against every natural law just to grab the last string of life. He tilted his head; eyes struggling to see. She was screaming, fear eating her body, trying all possible moves to free herself. Her voice pinched his soul. She needed him and his mind knew that.

They tore her shirt. All those tears, all those painful tears, made her look so weak. She was shaking with fear for she had comprehended what was going to happen next. He could hear his name getting jumbled with all kind of sounds he had ever heard. The sharp pain in his hind brain had begun vanishing. His heart no more beating.

She used to be his life, his everything. And then when he was losing his life from his hands he remembered her smiling face. Even in his dying dream she smiled perfectly. He touched her face and she looked back. I want to see her once, he thought, and for the last time his heart beat, his eyes opened. It took just a fraction of seconds for his dream to break as he saw her fainted face. Even when her voice was gone the pain was clearly visible. He remembered all the promises he had made once to himself. I will be her shadow everyday everywhere. Tears trickled down from the side of his eyes. He closed him eyes and folded his fingers, crying like a toddler. WHAT HAD THEY DONE TO HER? His mind shouted. HOW COULD THEY TOUCH HER LIKE THAT? He remembered how once her eyes spoke, now filled with tears, still falling, fixed on his face.

For one last time he closed his eyes, folded his hands. Tears fell once more. But this time it didn't fell for grief but for anger. He couldn't feel any pain. For certain reasons he started loving the situation. He loved the blood, loved the damp atmosphere, loved the bus he was inside, he loved his life. His hands had already started pushing his body upwards. Eyes set on his love, he rose.

He looked at those beasts and smiled. His hands peculiarly filled with energy, his legs moving on its own. It was as if he wasn't him anymore but changed, being controlled. And he knew his controller, his love.

The bus was still moving. Though it was shaking with high speed, he was fixed on his ground. He picked up the metal rod from the ground. Once I was hit by it, it’s time to take revenge. He moved slowly eyes fixed on her. There were three of them, two of them holding her shoulder, one trying to pull her jeans. Was she like an object that they could use? He saw one of them touching her upper body. His blood rushed inside. It a second his body was heated to an extreme. It wasn't just the hand that moved then, with it moved that beast’s head, its hands no more on her body. The blow was so strong that the rod had got stuck inside the skull. The two of them soon realized his presence. One of them shouted for the driver to come and the other pushed him to the corner of the bus. The bus stopped. He could feel the hollowness of the bus then, no one to help, no one to listen. He smiled again.

He saw one coming to him, its hands then on his neck. The hold was tight. He had almost choked. But before the beast could punch him, it found a shrill pain in its belly which soon went on devouring all its strength. The rod was inside its stomach. He twisted it. It screamed. He smiled again. The taste of revenge was heavenly. He pulled the rod out and kicked the beast.

Although his eyes were giving up but his mind was not yet ready to lose. Two of them were still left. Two can hurt her. They were coming. Although his soul stood rigid, his body was trembling. Fighting ahead required a lot of strength and he knew that he didn't have much time left. While that was his brain which made all kinds of practical comments, his heart, on the contrary, was happy to see his love alive and safe. Nothing will happen to you, I promise, it whispered to her.

Sun’s rays were playing all over the bus when she opened her eyes. She found a shirt covering her cold body. For a moment or so, she kept staring at the shirt blindly. Tears rolled down her eyes as she remembered the previous night. Sobbing, shaking, and frustrated she stood up. But then her eyes fell on the surrounding, blood all over. Everything reddened. Although it took her a few second but she realized that the three people trying to molest her were lying cold on the ground. And soon she found the whole bus filled with bodies, four beasts, one shadow.

What happened next, I don’t know. She didn't told me. And I don't think she knows who her shadow was, as she never loved him.

One sided love it was, only one sided light. Other was dark... her eternal shadow!
