He had come to say goodbye. It was becoming extremely difficult for him. It was for the first time she would stay so far from him. He wanted to hold her back even though he knew she had to go. Every time he glanced at her he felt like holding her hand and never let go. He was not able to sleep a wink throughout the twenty hour journey. Every time he closed his eyes her face swam in front of his eyes. Every other minute he looked beside him just to make sure she was present there. Throughout the journey her beautiful and innocent face kept haunting him. She was the most beautiful girl he had ever met in his life.
She woke quite early the next day. There were still 5-6 hours for the plane journey to end. He was already up. She was deliberately ignoring him. He could see that. It hurt him greatly. But he didn’t say a word. She sat browsing her phone quietly. He, on the other hand was feeling extremely fidgety and nervous. She noticed his movements but never said anything. Finally the journey had come to an end. They boarded the taxi for their or rather to say her destination. He silently helped her with the bags and again she said nothing. After the final bag was put into her room they came outside and she finally spoke “Thank you” That was all she said. They spent the rest of the time before his plane back just wandering the neighbourhood. Finally time had come for him to go. She waved at him and turned to go into her apartment. Tears had welled into his eyes. All the time spent together silently moved pass his eyes. He stood outside the apartment building looking at her. The driver had already parked the car in front of him. He desperately wanted her to look back at least once…
But he was disappointed. She never turned back. She silently walked back into the apartment…
She knew his dilemma, his state of mind, his hurt, his disappointment. But she was firm on her resolve. She won’t look back. She didn’t want to see the strongest and most important man in her life crying. She knew if she looked back she would never be able to leave him. She knew if she looked back into his eyes she would see her whole life flashing in his eyes….
Her entry into this world…
The first time he held her...
The first time she said ‘Daddy’...
The first time she walked…
The first time she threw tantrum...
The first time she went to school, rode a bicycle, scraped her knees...
And now…
The first time she was leaving home to study abroad…
She knew he would dreadfully miss her as she would miss him…
For she was forever and always her ‘Daddy Little Girl’
No, she won’t look back…
