Back at School
The monstrous alarm shrilled precisely at 6.03 am. I dragged myself out of the cool n comfortable bed, quite unwillingly. Daughter was still blissfully asleep. I shook her violently and she got up thinking that a major earthquake was afoot. Realizing that it was only her mom waking her up, that to for school, went promptly back to sleep. A fresh round of shaking ensued. I finally managed to untangle her from the bed...
The next hour was a chaotic-panic blur, but peace was restored once she got ready. And we set off jauntily to the bus stop, ready to take on the world. But where were the other children? The bus stop was as barren as a bald man's head. We waited, we fretted, we panicked. No sign of the bus any where on the horizon. After a while, on cue, a friendly looking auto arrived. We both jumped into it and prayed for our lives as the auto sped on Gurgaon's Roads(?).. I thought why not give the transport manager, a piece of my mind. I called him and vent my frustration about absolute tardiness of the school transportation. He stopped me mid sentence and uttered oh so calmly, "Madam, School Kal Khulegi!"
