The Heart Has Its Own Reasons

Info

The sunlight shone bright upon Riya's face. The ringing of the alarm clock wasn't needed to wake her up because the excitement was enough for it. Yes, it was a big day for Riya as today was the finals of the Indian Music Gala, a contest which she not only wanted to win but also wanted to make her mother's dream come. Her mother, Mrs. Anusha Singh was a lady of great talents. Being a single parent, her only dream was to see Riya as a very successful singer. She herself was an amazing singer but because of family pressures and responsibilities, she had to sacrifice her passion. But even after being a young girl of 18, Riya understood all her mom's problems and would often think of making things better. After all she was a supermom.

"Mum! I'm getting late. Please hurry up my breakfast or else I'll be singing with a hungry stomach." she teased her mom.

"And you think I'll be letting you sing like that?" came Mrs. Anusha's voice from the kitchen.

"Here you go princess! Your favorite bread-butter and omelette." Mom said with a smile.

Riya relished the food and ate them in some good ten minutes. Eventually, she took her bath and dressed up in a black shorts and a neon color tees. She was just looking like a rockstar who was ready to bang on the stage. She took her guitar and went to her mom to get her blessings. She always believed her mom's blessings to be her lucky charm. Mrs. Anusha kissed on her forehead and said, "Today is your chance. Go and make it large." These few words were all she needed to get inspired. Taking the car keys, she zoomed off the gates into the streets.

Well, it wasn't just the competition but also something else, the thought of which created butterflies in her stomach.....meeting Lakshay.
