I always thought mermaids were parts of fantasy and lore to give my school a reason for our swimming team name the mermaid scales. but weeks before our competition my opinion would changer forever.
" Pat, lets go! we're going to be late for swim practice!!'' my friend yuan panicked as we walked to the gymnasium for our senior swimming practice for the championship that comes in a week " we're fine....coach Rei wont mind if we get there late or early." " okay but what if me miss some new stuff?!" like always Yuan knew how to exaggerate things when it came to our swimming team . since i'm the team captain i have no choice but to attend even if i didn't want to. as we made our way to the gymnasium i heard someone whisper in my ear "help......" i quickly turned around to see if anyone was there.....their wasn't " dude whats wrong?" Yuan was looking at me as if i had a lobster on my head " you didn't hear that?" " hear what?" i was right, only i heard it. soon enough we reached the gym to see that practice was cancelled for two days due to the pool cleaning. " dammit !!! she always does this!!" Yuan threw his douffle bag on the floor out of rage since our coach tends to give us the heads up on our schedule and what not. " no need to make a big deal about it, lets just go to the beach to Practice" Yuan sighed heavily as we left the school campus and walked into the parking lot " we might as well start training at the beach since this gym is always closed!!" " its the schools decision , not ours ya know" " dont you think if they wanted a winning team they would help us out alittle?" i kept quiet as we got into my camaro as he already knew what i was going to say. even though our schools team have never won a match didn't mean that i wasn't going to give up on my team. besides, its the only reason i still go to school in the first place, as soon as i started up my car i heard it again, i looked around...nothing again. the more i heard it the more it started to sound familiar. "dude don't you hear that?!" "hear what?! i think your hearing things dude." i hit my head on the steering wheel as i kept hearing the plea sound worse and worse as if that person what getting hurt. i kept trying to ignore it as i drove to the beach. soon enough we got to the beach and the pleas became clearer, i've had enough so as soon as i parked i immediately got out of the car and ran down to the beach to see what was calling me .it was hard to run in the thick sand so it took me awhile to get to the water. " h....heeellp me.." i looked around to hear where it was coming from until i saw a tail move behind a huge rock next to the water. as soon as i saw it i stopped dead in my tracks with yuan finally catching up to me . " did you know you left your car on?" yuan kept calling to me even though I was paying any attention him but to the THING I just saw.before I knew it my feet were dragging me to the Rock where I saw it" pat? Where are you going?!" " I'm going to see something "after I got control of my legs , I darted to the rock,when I got to the other side of the rock I froze again as I knew my thoughts about the creature I saw was right........what I saw ...was a mermaid.
