On the final day of competition at the Seoul 2023 World Taekwondo Cup Team Championship Series at KINTEX on Saturday, Team Korea fell short of a medal with a 1-2 loss to Brazil in the quarterfinals. Brazil won the championship after defeating Korea.
The Korean team of Lee Seung-gu (Daejeon Metropolitan City Hall), Kim Kyung-duk (Yeongcheon City Hall), Jang Yoo-jin (Kyung Hee University) and Hong Hyo-rim (Gangwon Cheongdo University) were eliminated in the quarterfinals by Iran with a round-robin score of 1-2. Brazil followed up their quarterfinal win over Korea with a 2-1 round-robin victory over quarterfinal opponent Iran. Brazil then swept finalist Morocco 2-0 (175-165, 170-160) to win the mixed team title.
In the power taekwondo individual competition, Yoon Jun-hyuk (Ganghwa County Office) won the under-65kg category with a 2-0 round robin victory over Kim Yeon-geun (Yongin University).
At KINTEX, where the tournament was held, taekwondo legend Lee Dae-hoon and Hangzhou Asian Games gold medalist Park Hye-jin held autograph sessions, attracting a large number of spectators and fans.
