The Dark Room

No one dares
to enter my dark room
---the one full of sadness,
of madness,
and of gloom.
I guess I am on my own,
I am all alone.
Well then,
I believe,
I should make this
my comfort zone.

It's dark in here.
Not a single soul
wants to be anywhere near.
No one notices my tears,
no one's willing to send me cheers.

Being alone,
I learned life the hard way.
The darkness of the night
is not any different from that of the day.
"You got your own back." to myself, I always say.
"You'll get out of this room.
I wish you may."

For a long time, in this room,
I have been locked.
This darkness, this gloominess,
this loneliness cannot be stopped.
And then,
one morning, I woke up,
At the door of my dark room,
someone knocked.

From the keyhole, I saw someone holding a key,
---the key to my dark room,
---the key that can set me free.
He unlocked the door, opened it,
and smiled at me.
I smiled back, and only then,
I found out,
It was me holding the key.

See, we all lock ourselves
in our own dark rooms.
We think no one's there,
we think we are on our own.
But listen to me, my fellow prisoner,
You are your own key
to your own dark room.
