The Idea of You

As I lay in my bed, you're the one on my mind
Looking for the words I'm trying so hard to find
As I lay here, in the darkness of night
The thought of your smile seems to give me light

The idea of you is what intrigues me so
The real you is the person whom I'd like to know
The idea of you makes me want to know more
More about the kind of person I never met before

Honestly, I'm excited each time that I see you
Sometimes I don't know what to say, or even do
The sound of your voice is ever soft and sweet
The kind that can sweep anyone off of their feet

Now as I contemplate, what it is that I feel
I ponder on which part of this is real
Kindly considering if this'll hurt or be fun
I look forward to knowing, when it's said and done
