The Mango Tree with the Firefly

In a remote village known as Sopping,
There was an old Mango tree who stood with a simple house.
The Mango tree has a large and wide trunk.
It's leaves are thick and freshly green.
The branches are vast and long enough to hide from the rain.

"It's been long since I stood under the heat and cold season."
The mango tree murmured as the stars and moon shine from the sky.
The breeze brushes it's branches and the leaves swayed.
The tree noticed a small balled light approaching.
It waited to see a single firefly that flew toward his place.

"Hello Mango Tree, this is my first  time in Sopping."
The firely greeted.
"I know,  I can see you wiggling as you get closer to me." the tree replied.
"I am about to attend our festival in the forest but was separated."
The firefly flight as it encircle the tree.
"Festival? I think your out of season. It's in the mid of summer."  The mango tree pointed.
The firefly pouted and repeated.
"No, we do have our festivals every mid summer."
The Mango tree chuckled as he shakes his leaves to which the firefly avoided.
"Sorry about that, I suggest  that you stay here as we stand with moon. You can sit on my leaves or barnches as you wait and recall where you are going."

The firefly obeyed as they watched and waited under the moon. After a while, a vast number of firefly passes them.
The firefly bid goodbye and went back home without attending the festival.
Every Midsummer and Christmas the firefly went and played with the Mango Tree till they become friends.
Until one evening, the firefly wanted to thank the mango tree for letting it have some ripe and sweet fruits.
The firefly was shocked to see a trunk getting rotten.
The branches are broken on the ground and leaves are dry and brown.
The firefly rushed toward the Mango tree and was scared.
"What happened?" It as questioned.
The Mango tree gave out a thin grin and replied.
"My friend I have watched the moon for hundred evenings.
I have stood under the storm, heat and thunder.
I am with this village for ages and now I am old enough."

The firefly hugged the rotting trunk and cried.
" How can this be? you are the only friend I have."
The Mango tree comforted his friend.
"Tonight  the sky is clear and as I sleep, your the only light that I have."

As the morning came, the mango tree fell on the ground but every Midsummer and Christmas,
The Firefly visited where the Mango Tree used to stand and the fly kept it's fire."
