Conclusion

Now, we'll discuss them all one by one.

Here we go…

 1. Development

Development, or we can say script development. It is the first and foremost stage of film production. Of course, you cannot produce a film without the right script. A script could be an existing script, an outline of the story, a book, and so on. The development stage also includes a Director, Co-director, or Writer pitching the storyline to a Producer for starting the project.

2. Pre-Production

Once you have your storyline or the script ready and finalized with you, the stage or pre-production comes. It is the stage when you would narrow down the options of the production. It is where all the planning takes place before the camera rolls and sets the project's overall vision. Pre-production includes working out the budget, casting, and the shoot location for the film. In this stage, only various people, like line managers, production managers, photographers, etc., will be hired to carry out the project smoothly.

3. Production

This is the critical stage of all, as in this stage, the actual film production work begins. The film director collaborates with the cast and crew to make sure that everything happens as planned. The primary goal is to adhere to the budget and schedule, which necessitates close monitoring.

Moreover, communication plays a key role in ensuring smooth production. You need to be connected to all parties involved in the production, including the cast, crew, set, office, production company, etc.

4. Photography

This is the stage where the actual shoot takes place, as the name implies. It is almost always the most expensive phase of film production because it involves costs, such as salaries of the actors, directors, and set crew, along with the costs of specific shots, props, and on-set special effects. All of the preceding stages have been established to ensure a smooth transition of photography.

Communication between all parties must be maintained during the shoot. Furthermore, the production must maintain complete records while attempting to stay on time and within budget.

5. Wrap

As the name says, this is the time immediately following the conclusion of filming. You wrap up everything during this stage, like clearing the set of the cast and crew, dismantling the setup, and returning the equipment and props to the suppliers in working order. Don't miss to maintain an inventory list and a complete set of shoot records for your future reference.

6. Post-Production

This stage begins after the photography is finished. In most cases, but not always, this stage may overlap with the photography stage. Post-production entails reviewing the footage and assembling the film – editing. Music, Sound Design, Visual Effects (VFX) will all contribute as needed during this stage.

7. Distribution

Finally, the distribution stage - the stage for which you have worked so hard. Of course, once your film is finished, you must distribute it to the producer in order to make money. At this point, producers recoup their investment. The film will probably be released in cinema halls or distributed through various digital platforms such as Amazon Prime, Netflix, Disney Hotstar, HBO, to name a few.
