I hope you think of us on Mondays—
When you wake up for the workweek and think;
When your coffee eyes drift back to your warm drink;
When you get home feeling sick
And you can't help but feel like a prick.
I hope you think of us on Tuesdays—
When you're working late at night;
When you feel like an island with no light;
When you shut your eyes tight,
Then thoughts would devour you without a fight.
I hope you think of us on Wednesdays—
When you stroll down the kitchen looking
If mom was singing or cooking.
But then you remember and can’t blurt,
You're now the sand tossed in the desert.
I hope you think of us on Thursdays—
When you're like a kid begging for the weekend to come;
When you could’ve been there and hum;
When the kids would’ve sung
A melody they knew back when they were still young.
I hope you think of us on Fridays—
When you’re ready for the last day of the week,
And a good drink is what you and your friends seek;
When a thought would suddenly bite
Wondering how we've been that night.
I hope you think of us on Saturdays—
When you turn on a song,
And you haven’t heard it for so long.
A memory comes to mind with such rust
But then, you shrug it off like dust.
I hope you think of us on Sundays—
When you flip through the pages
Of the photo albums you trapped in cages;
When you delete the video
Of your kids singing a song they learned from the radio.
But I guess that’s quite far-fetched—
There in your mind, we can’t even be etched.
Let alone in your heart could it be stretched.
You don't have time to spare,
Nor the luxury to even care.
Maybe you're pretty busy—
Or you hate us cause we're feisty;
Or because we're too nosy.
So, you go on your way with others being cheesy,
But heck, I'm cringing, you see.
But don't worry, that’s okay.
If you're happy, then yay.
Either way, I don't want you to stay.
This is for the best anyway;
Us, going on our separate ways.
So, yeah—
I hope you think of us on Mondays,
Or in any of those days.
Though we're better off without you, I must say,
I still want to ruin your day.
