This One

I know how to play the game

And I know the ways to your core.

I know how to win the name

And I know the ways to score.

I know the seat of my place,

And I just know what you're here for.

I know how to act insane,

And I know that you'll ask for more

I can fill your loveless nights

With my bountiful endless sights,

And I can trail around the world

To whisper a piece of my word.

I can gait through these endless miles,

And I can teach you ways to fly.

And I can see the look in your eyes

When I ask you if you were mine.

But I can't leave out the sadder part--

I can't bleed the gap between our hearts.

I've come too close to let myself fall;

I wouldn't do this if it's not worth it all

I've given my time, I've lost my sense of rhyme.

I'm torn apart inside, but still I can't decide.

Can't I leave you? Wouldn't it be better to choose--

To say good bye to what's big enough to chew?

But you're just as good as a summer's day;

The warmth will leave when you go away.

You bid the world with only words to say;

The seas to part to pave for your way

Tell me, how could I ask for more

When there's nothing more to ask for?

The way your hands speak for you so

Tell me, how could I let this one go?
