Let’s talk about a short story, shall we? I was once walking down my everyday road back from my school where I saw two gentlemen dressed in typical office attire.
What’s interesting is that one of them was overjoyed and the other…not so much.
I wondered the reason and thought of asking them the specific reasons.
I first went up to the former one… the happy one. He told me, “I just got a better job. I have been working with this old company for the past 12 years and haven’t got any increment or promotion. This new job pays me 50 lakhs per month, i.e. 20 lakhs more than my earlier salary.”
I congratulated him. Now moving on to asking the other guy. What he said was interesting... “I am a CEO of a company. The person you were just speaking to use to work in my company. He was a great employee. As a matter of fact, I was going to offer him the post of CFO (CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER) first thing tomorrow morning fetching him 1 crore rupees every month. Unfortunately, he just gave me his resignation letter. I have lost a very good employee.”
So, as you can see some quick decisions can change your life forever.
If the employee would have been a little patient before resigning... he would have a better one. If CEO would be a little quicker n making the decisions he wouldn’t have lost a good employee.
Think before you take decisions. You never know when it will be the wrong one.
