Whenever somebody asks me what do I use for inspiration while composing music.
My answer usually is, "The silent corner of the wild hills where nobody usually goes."
Yes I know. It's wierd.
So I guess this is the part where explain.
I have been going every week to the hills since I was 7yo. You could say it's a second home.
Sometime around when I was 18, someone introduced me to meditation.
Although there are many ways to meditate, the one I was introduced to was where I would sit in peace, in a calm silent place in the hills, not chant anything, or concentrate, but just sit there, with my eyes closed, listening to everything the world has to say, wind rustling the grass, dry trees crackling, all kinds of birds chirping and singing about, or even just the sound of the rush of the wind hitting my ears.
What I observed is, everything has a rythm, all this chaos if tried to catch a rythm can be matched to the beat of a metronome.
Somehow, the world operates in musical beats.
And with music, everything feels as if it is in a flow.
So what I do for composing music.
I'd say I just try to imitate the rythm I interpret from the hills into my music. I wouldn't say I am perfect at it. Infact I wouldn't even say I'm composing music. The compositions exist in the nature from billions of years, I just try to imitate them on my guitar.
So probably to anybody who is good at playing their instrument but finds it hard to compose music, I'd suggest, find music in your surroundings.
