To My Best Friend

How are you? I haven't heard from you in so long, I wonder if you're doing alright. Are your demons still waiting in the shadows? Is your family treating you okay? Does your new boyfriend protect you? Even from yourself?

You look happy in your photos, I'm glad. I haven't seen you this happy in so long; Guess your new boyfriend is good for you after all - well, I hope he is. 

Listen, you probably knew this was coming. You probably knew before I did, but..

I don't think we could be best friends anymore. 

I still love you though. If you need me, you can call me anytime you want. I'd still be here for you. 

But I can't be your best friend anymore. 

It doesn't feel the way it used to. Maybe it's your fault, maybe it's mine. Maybe it just wasn't meant to last forever, even though we thought it would.

We drifted apart, you and I. 

And that's okay. 

I still wish you the very best the world has to offer; You're still one of the best people I know.
