Bhanu Athaiya- 1st Oscar Award Winning Actress

Annasaheb Rajopadhye (28 April 1929- 15 October 2020) was an Indian costume designer. She has worked in almost 100 movies. She won the academy award for costume design in 1982 for Gandhi. Athaiya was born in Kohlapur in Maharashtra. By occupation, she is a costume designer. The Indian who ha won Academy Award for Costume Design (1983) for Gandhi, National Film Award for Best Costume Design (1991) for Lekin, and National Film Award for the Best Costume Design (2002) for Lagaan. They are all the best achievements of her life.

She started her journey as a freelance fashion illustrator for many different magazines in Bombay, including ‘Eve’s weekly.’ She started as a designer for Guru Dutt’s film, but soon after this became an important part of the team.

Satyajit Ray- The Director That Made India Proud

Satyajit Ray (2 May 1921- 23 April 1992) was an Indian film director, scriptwriter, documentary filmmaker, author, essayist, lyricist, magazine editor, illustrator, calligrapher, and music composer. He is not just famous in India, but he is considered to be the best director in the world. Born in Calcutta, Bengal Presidency, British India, he was the son of the renowned author Sukumar Ray. He was 6 ft. 4 in.

He is one of the oscar-winning Indians who won it in the early years of Indian cinema. He was given the honorary award in 1992 for his most poignant and important works that including Pather Panchali, Aparajito, and the World of Apu which form the trilogy following the story of Apu.

Resul Pookutty- Oscar-Winning Sound Designer

Resul Pookutty born on May 39, 1971, in Vilakkupara, Kollam, Kerala (India), is an Indian film sound designer, sound editor, and mixer. Resul made his first appearance in sound design with the 1997 film private detective. Some of the great works of Resul include- Musafir, Zinda, Traffic signal, Gandhi - My Father, Saawariya, and Dus Kahaniyaan. All of his work has got him many awards nationally and internationally.

He won Oscar for the 2009 film Slumdog Millionaire. He won the Academy Award for Best Sound Mixing, along with Richard Pryke and Ian Tapp, for Slumdog Millionaire. However, he mentioned in an interview that Bollywood has shown no interest in working with him which was a great mental breakdown for him. His win at the Academy Awards made him famous within Bollywood.

AR Rahman- Twice Oscar-Winning Indian

An Indian composer and songwriter backed two Oscars in the history of Indian Cinema. He was born to A.S. Dileep, who is an Indian composer, record producer, and songwriter who worked majorly in Tamil and Hindi films. His achievement of awards consists of- National Film Awards, two Academy Awards, two Grammy awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe Award, fifteen Filmfare Awards, and seventeen Filmfare Awards South. He has been into Indian classical music as well. Initially, he kicked off his career with advertisements and jingles. Later, we all know he has been successful in creating history.

The popular music director, hailed in India as the Mozart of the Madras, bagged two Academy Awards, one for the original score for 'Slumdog Millionaire' and the other for the hugely popular global hit 'Jai Ho' from the same film. Hailing in the nation as Mozart of the Madras, he never thought he would bag Oscar for his performance.

Ashutosh Gowariker- A Passionate Film Director

Ashutosh Gowariker (born 15 February 1964) is an Indian film director, actor, screenwriter, and producer. When you think of passionate directors in the Bollywood industry, Ashutosh Gowariker is the first name that comes to your mind. Born in Kolha[pur, he is known for making some of the legendary movies like- Pehla Nasha, Baazi, Swades, and Jodha Akbar. While he did not earn Oscar, but he was nominated for Academy Awards for his movie Lagaan in 2002. His film Lagaan was nominated in the Best Foreign Language Film category in the 74th Academy Awards, which makes him a voting member of the Academy Awards. His acting skills were not that great but we all will have to agree that he has excelled in the field of directing a movie. He has done great films staying behind the camera. An actor who took to film direction after almost a decade in front of the camera, Ashutosh has acted in Hindi films, Marathi films, television serials, and commercials. He still makes the best movies.
