Do you know what I love about mornings?
they remind me of you –
Like the sun’s ray in the sky
it touches every hidden part of me;
the fragile and vulnerable quarters.
Lighting-up the horizontal lining
of my walls,
drowning the numbness of the ceiling
with its warmth.
Like a morning hush –
whispering every word
that could possibly
stop the world from revolving.
Moving fast this emptying time,
silently humming
our untold stories.
Echoing and filling each void
found in the stolen memories
of you.
Like a freshly brewed coffee.
Sober enough to keep
every piece of you
in my brain,
but awake enough
to be reminded by
the shadows of your smile.
Conquering these demons inside,
trading all of these broken bones,
letting the sunrise burn
our unpainted embers.
