UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) is the India's premier central government agency which is responsible for recruiting the right candidates for Civil Services. It is responsible for appointments to and examinations for All India services and group A & group B of Central services. Every year approximately 1000 candidates are selected for all the 24 civil services.
This exam is considered as the toughest exam by many, considering the exam duration (extends 1 year), depth of the syllabus and the competition involved.
The first stage of the exam Preliminary (objective) – is usually conducted around June,
The second stage, Mains (written), is conducted around October.
Those who clear Mains exam will have to face interview/personality test during the March-May period.
The final result usually comes in June.
