“Hey!”
Spinning around I found a girl slightly taller than me-she’s wearing heels- so I guess we’re on the same height smiling cheekily at me.
Why is she smiling at me? I don’t think I know her.
I frowned trying to remember where I met her, or when but my memory fails to remember.
“Sorry. Do I know you?” I asked politely when she was about to hug me.
Weird girl.
“Of course you do.” She goes on and hugged me tight much to my surprise.
So tight as if we’re the best of friends.
Confirmed. A weirdo.
“Sorry, Miss but I don’t think I know you” I said trying to get away from her firm hold.
“What the hell girl, you have amnesia?? Thought it only happen in the movies…” she went on her litany as if no one is in front of her.
She makes that funny weird expression that I can't help but laugh.
She’s funny. But still, she’s a stranger. And talking to strangers is not my cup of tea.
When I noticed that she’s so caught up in her own world—daydreaming I started making my sweet escape.
I turned my back. Maybe I should run---
“Still writing Alexander the Great—WITH HEARTS in your books?”
WHAT.
THE.
HELL.
How did she know??? No one knows except my best—whatever.
I turned around and found her smirking at me.
“Who are you?” this time I’m serious.
“He’s still your first love?”
“Who?”
“Jo---“
“Shut Up! Ew. No. Alex, no. That was before I learned his sexual preference.”
She laughed heartily. And sighed.
“You’re still the same. Yet different.”
“What do you mean” I asked her.
She made a Hmmmn sound.
“I mean you’re still you. Weird and funny. But your eyes. Not the same anymore."
I raised a brow. OOOkay. What the hell is this strange girl talking about.
“I mean your eyes. The twinkle in your eyes. They’re gone. What happened?”
I shrugged. “Life happened.” I simply said as if those two words pretty much sum it all.
Well. Yes it does.
She made a “poor puppy eyes” but when I throw her a stink eye she grinned as if nothing happened.
This girl is a psycho.
“You know what it’s been 9 years.”
“What do you mean?”
“And guess what, I am already married.” She flashed me her wedding ring and sighed and look at the sky with a lovey dovey look in her eyes.
Disgusting.
“You seemed young though. I thought we’re of the same age.”
“Nah. You decided what my age would be, remember? I was twenty-one when you made me so that make me thirty and o now.”
Holy fucking mackerel. What the hell is she talking about.
“Made you?” I’m losing my shit. I don’t even know what she’s talking about.
“Well, yeah. Me and my Syd. He’s Thirty-six now. But man, he still looks the same the first time I met him. He still made my heart pound as if I ran in marathon.” She squealed like a lunatic.
I didn’t pay attention. I was distracted by what she said.
“Syd?”
“Sydney, the love of my life yes.”
“Sydney---so you mean you’re---- Kylie??“
“Yes, ma’am.” While saluting jokingly.
“Oh my God this isn’t real.” I uttered to myself.
“Who cares what is real or not.” She smiled sweetly at me.
“You know what.. I missed you. We and Syd we missed you. Where did you go? You just vanished out of nowhere.” Her eyes are sad. It was as if she was about to cry. And I don’t know why I feel guilty.
“I got busy.” I just told her. I don’t know what to say to her honestly.
“Nope…you got scared.”
“You hide yourself because you got scared.” She continued.
I remained silent. She’s right anyway.
“Well anyway. I’m two months on the way.” She delightfully said to me.
“You mean… you’re pregnant?” with bulged eyes I asked.
“Yep. For the second time around.” She grinned sheepishly.
"Then why are you wearing high heels?"
“Our daughter Elizabeth is now five years old. And oh, Syd is now a head coach of his Team. He misses you too by the way but of course he won’t say it, you know how that guy is” she rolled her eyes as if I didn't say anything.
My head is spinning. How could it be possible. The thing she’s saying. It isn’t possible.
“You know when you wrote the word “THE END” our story didn’t stop there. Well, you put an end to it. But to us, it didn’t happen. You just closed the door and put us in a lock in your mind. Because you chose not to think about us. It hurts you to even think about us, right?”
Yes. Kylie and Sydney was just a product of my imagination a decade ago.
That I tried to forget well, somehow I managed. Until this day happened
This weird dream occurred.
“Come back to us. Your characters miss you, you know. I know they’re still there. You never really forgot us. We’re still there. There in your heart.”
I looked at her she had this faint smile on her lips that I can’t help but be teary eyed.
Because she’s right.
I missed them like crazy.
An eerie sound came out of nowhere. And suddenly, Kylie is nowhere to be found.
My phone’s alarm. That’s what the sound was.
A wake up call.
Literally and figuratively.
What a weird dream.
