In an interesting piece in the Daily Mail (UK), entrepreneur and inventor Elon Musk talks about what he thinks are two big inventions. One of them is a new material for making batteries. This is a major step forward, Musk said, because we may be at the point where Batteries are more important than Air Travel. Here is some of what he had InventHelp to say in the article:

"You see, batteries are sort of like a technology breakthrough... We may have found the cure for cancer... we may have found the key to unlock the future of human evolution. We're going to make batteries that last longer than 10 years, which store more electricity than anything that has ever done before, and which are way cooler and safer." Indeed, and with this in mind perhaps we may no longer have to say goodbye to our beloved family Mini-Vans.

Musk did not divulge what his invention is but it appears to be some sort of rechargeable battery. This could be used to power everything from your laptop to your home air-conditioners. We all know how costly it is to run these appliances especially in the summer time.

Two other inventions Musk talked about at the Daily Mail were a solar charger and a tunneling robot. He did say however, that both of these would be grand applications for the future. Solar chargers will allow you to charge your batteries while you are traveling on the road or camping. And a tunneling robot could be used to explore the inner parts of the planet.

It is amazing that with all the knowledge we have on Earth, we still do not know everything there is to know about the planet. And we sure need to continue to learn more about the moon, the sun and space as well. Having an artificially constructed base on the moon or on Mars may also be another great invention by Musk.

He is not the only one in the very elite science category thinking along these lines. Bill Gates was thinking along the same lines as Musk when he was awarded the Brain prize. What the Brain prize is for is discovering how the mind works. And once we understand how the brain functions we will surely begin to be able to unlock its true power. So that is another one of Musk's inventions. He and Gates have certainly put their innovative minds to work in the areas of medicine, technology and engineering.

The Spaceship idea put forth by Musk has caught the imagination of many. But it is a very expensive way to travel the distance. There are other ideas on how to put things into space. One way is using reusable components of the human body. Once you have mastered the body system, it seems that you will be able to create a completely safe and efficient transportation system that is extremely quiet and could be used in military applications as well.
